Where do you stand on politics?

edited February 2007 in Politics
This test popped up on Digg, and I was intrigued. I took it, and scored 65% social liberal, 80% economic conservative, placing me squarely within the Libertarian camp:

So who will be next and step up to the challenge? I'd like to see, based on this test, which may or may not be terribly accurate, where the rest of our FRC Forum-ers fall. It's pretty short, so humor me.

  • Blocked by the corp firewall as a "date" site...
  • Bypassed immediately by one of my many anonymizers.

So you have the same bullshit content categorization service I do? The one that doesn't actually bother categorizing YouTube, it just blocks it for no listed reason?
  • I fell right on the D of Democrat.

    Libertarian FTW

I tested as Social Liberal (80% permissive), Economic Liberal (5% Permissive), and Best Described as a Socialist. My graph thing looked like a reflection across the horizontal axis of Jason's graph. Is anyone surprised?

I must not be savvy enough to paste my graph into the post, because I couldn't get it to work.

I'm a Centrist toward the Republican side.

How did you guys get the picture to post?

  • I ended in the middle of the democrat square, close to socialist. I consider myself a moderate socialist, so the result was OK. The questions are too US centered to give an accurate picture of my political opinions anyway.
  • No screen cap for me (library kiosk) but...

    Social Liberal (75% permissive)
    Economic Conservative (73% permissive)

Libertarian: You exhibit a very well-developed sense of Right and Wrong and believe in economic fairness.

My dot is a little bit lower than WaterIsPoison's and just about dead center in the upper right portion of the graph.

Take that all you people who think I'm some sort of Bush lackey!
  • You must have lied. Typical neocon.

You didn't use Jason's official sarcasm color!

    Then you're just being foolish.

I got Social Liberal (78%) and Economic Liberal (36%) whatever that means. Pretty much slap bang on the centroid of the Democrat section. Some of the questions needed to be defined better, I thought.

Whoever gets Totalitarian without cheating wins! Yay, Darth Vader!
    I wasn't being sarcastic.
    Oh snap. :B

    Sounds about right to me
  • I love how everyone has a well developed sense of Right and Wrong and a belief in economic justice.
Do they not think people are going to share these?

And Joe, I believe Steve's result. It's just that all Libertarians are varying degrees of crazy or heartless.
  • First I think the questions weren't all that fair and balanced, take this for example:
"Books with potentially deadly knowledge (like instructions for making awesome bombs) should be regulated."
They show a bias towards bombs.

Regardless I came out around the same point as Hitman there. I don't know if its right, I think I'm more centrist than that. I really wanted that quiz to have a middle option, between agree and disagree.
  • I'm in pretty much the exact same place as WaterIsPoison.
  • Yes, some of the questions were more loaded than a _________ at a __________.
  • And yet, despite all of our differences, we can all come together on the forums and converse freely with open minds and open hearts. Let's hold hands. Now sway... sway a little more... to the right... now to the left...

    KOOOOM-BIIII---AHHHHHHHH, M'LOOOOORRRDDD, KOOOOOM-BIIII-AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!
  • So an dead on Centrist would make me...?

    Epic.
  • Jason, you can't sing 10 kumbaya's!
  • Social Liberal: 78% permissive
    Economic Moderate: 41% permissive

    Best described as: Democrat

Yeah, sure, we'll go with that.
  • The only one more socially liberal than me is Scott, and he's only more liberal by one percentage point.
