oo-boon-too !!!!!!!!!! ....?

This is an old FAQ from site about pronunciation.

Talk on Wikipedia about the pronunciation.

How do you pronounce Ubuntu?

Ubuntu, an African word from Zulu and Xhosa, is pronounced "oo-BOON-too". See the other FAQ on its meaning, it's a worthwhile read, and no, you're not the first person to wonder. :-)

  • Yes, exactly, I already said that... in a comment... for episode Favorite Hardware

    Ha ha! Scrym isn't perfect!
  • Heh..

The funny thing is, I say Ubuntu versus Uboontu about 50/50 most of the time. The problem I've run into is that, out in the workforce, people honestly don't know what I'm talking about if I use the latter... So I've kind of gotten this habbit of saying it incorrectly...

(These are the same people who think Ethereal is pronounced "Ether Eel").
