  • Mob Psycho 100 is everything that I love on a short series anime.
The animation was super. I liked the twists that we got at the end. I personally prefer them at end of the show because then I don't see them coming. Also, how can anyone not enjoy Reigen antics?

I'll definitely check out the manga when it gets release.

Sweetness & Lightning one of the better shows this season just finished. Didn't see many negatives to this show for what it was trying to do. Wouldn't mind a second season if they were to release it.

If you have a "Crunchyroll" subscription you can check out the manga online. At the end of each chapter they have a recipe of the food feature in it.
  • I haven't seen Mob Psycho 100 yet. Is it a spinoff of One Punch Man, or is it just another series from the same creator?

Same creator. Similar feel but not actually directly related.
  • Is "Gakune Handsome" a ripoff of Senpai club?
  • "To be hero" sounds vaguely funny.

"All Out" I assume is about butts.

Nope, wait, Keijo is literally about butts. I would have assumed this was fake, but probably not.

Wixoss is still going? Seems like every other week there's a new season.

Drifters sounds like who would win the anime.

A cycling anime? That's new to me.

What the fuck is wrong with ash and pikachu?

I really don't see anything that sounds that great to me, but like most seasons I can't even tell until it's halfway over.
  • Keeping my eye on Tiger Mask, Ao-Oni, Nyanbo, and Udon. All things pertain to my interests.

Sengoku Choujuu gets a pass on style alone
  • The only anime I found interesting on that whole list was Girlish Number and Yuri!!! on Ice. Everything else was a straight "NOPE" or "That sounds super high concept with a lot of pronouns, I should wait to hear if it's good or not."

  • Yep. The manga is absolute trash too.

I would love to have been in the room watching a guy try and pitch this. I mean how can you do it with a straight face? Is there a lore to this, deep rules? At some point there must have been arguments over the deep nuances of this show. The show about butts.

From what I understand, I think Gakuen Handsome was originally a game and it existed before Senpai Club. Earliest release date I found for it is 2010. So two people just happened to come up with similar ideas independently of each other it would seem.
  • A lot of popular media hits upon the same notes at similar times. I remember when Ready Player One and Sword Art Online were things and I was halfway through my online game novel about gold farmers.
  • So far this season only the madoka knock off has grabbed me so-far. The other magical witches in world war I/II deal seems popular, but I don't get why at the moment.
  • I felt that the first episode of Izetta was pretty strong and showed that there is at least potential in the show. It had a nice mix of action, politics and tank, plane & gun -porn. I also liked the non witch main character.

All in all I think it was good episode and not only on that "I want to watch more of this" way, but also as a 20+ minute individual thing with its own story.
  • Magical girls in world wars is always popular, because there are many gun/military otaku who want waifus.
  • The new natsume and the second season of hibikei euphonium are the only things I'm looking out for. Although technically both properties have already established themselves very well in their earlier incarnations, Euphonium in particular resonated strongly with me so I'm pretty hyped.

Izetta had a very solid start I was not expecting, but I have not been grabbed by any other properties so far
  • Oh I've been told to watch out for Drifters. The art is already looking amazing..
  • The first episode of Sound Euphonium 2 reminded me why the first season was so good.

Watched the first episode of Scorching Ping Pong Girls. It's another cute girls doing 'x' show. Episode opens to a finals competition were a champion team loses the first game to some unknown under dog.

Show then switches to some other school whose ping pong has never made past city finals. But there is a new Ace who has aspirations to make it to regionals. Until a new transfer student shows up and could possibly be better than the Ace. Show is okay so far.

The main girls are all stereotypical anime characters. Big boobed girl who acts like the mother hen of the group. Ace girl who has the dream to go big and loves the attention. Snaggletooth girl who is super energetic. Cool headed calculating girl and super shy girl with a natural talent that is going to push the team for the gold.

I will check out a few more episodes to see what the other opposing rivals teams are going to be like.

  • You just described the most genero-bad anime there is, ad then said you will watch a few more episodes. WTF?
  • Sounds like Saki but with ping pong.
  • Felt like watching something light and thought that shounen sports series would fit my definition of light perfectly, so I started watching Haikyo!! Had heard of it being good in few places and it's good.

I didn't say I was going to watch the entire series. Yeah I know it's generic but it wasn't horrible either. Plus I'm in the mood for a sports themed anime. There are other sports anime coming out this season that I will be checking out as well.

    Do you mean Haikyuu!!?
  • Yes. And I looked up the name when I was writing that and still managed to fuck it up.
  • After sifting through things I'm going to watch episode 2 of madoka ripoff, Tiger Mask, Touken Ranbu, and To Be Hero.
  • Plus I'm in the mood for a sports themed anime.

Why u not watch Yowamushi Pedal, bro?

In other news, the woman who directed The Woman Called Fujiko Mine is directing a new show this season called Yuri On Ice that is shockingly good.

  • Finally got round to watching Under the Dog last night. Was pretty good, only real complaint was that I wish there was more of it. That said was not ready for the feels trip with Hana.

Also watching Hibike! Euphonium. Still a pretty good show to keep up with. Its cool to see a bit more character development and a bit of back story coming out.

I've already watched all of Yowamushi Pedal. I'm looking forward to the third season. For now I checked out the first episode of All Out. It's a rugby sports anime which I think is the first of it's kind. I think there is an old football anime but that's it. Show features two protagonist. A really tall guy and a really short guy. Tall guy is the gentle giant who wouldn't hurt a fly and the short guy is a hot headed dude with something to prove. You find in the first episode the tall guy actually played rugby before but there was an accident with a teammate that made him quit the game. Short guy knows nothing about rugby but likes the idea of how any size player can play the game. The rest of the cast hasn't been introduced. Will see how it goes.
