Convert .rm file to xvid

Does anyone know of a decent freeware program for Windows that will convert a .rm video file to xvid? I've seen a couple, but I'm trying to avoid something with a ton of spyware.

    I can't believe. I forgot in our media player episode to talk about mencoder. mplayer has a companion program called mencoder. Basically, any type of file that mplayer can read, mencoder can write. It can transcode absolutely anything supported by the codecs it has available.
