Nintendo Revolution rename.......sucks

The new console is going to be called the....wait for it.....wii (pronounced "we"). Discuss.

    Wow, I thought that was bs. But now I'm 90% sure it's true. I guess they're trying to get in the bandwagon of using the letter i in product names. Also I can see how the i represents the controller. Sure, it's not the greatest name. It certaintly doesn't get a lot of excitement out of me. Perhaps we'll continue to call it revolution anyways. All I can think of now is the episode of Rocko's Modern Life where Filbert says "wee wee. wee wee..."

    Ack! I thought I Rocko's MOdern Life as well. I would bet that they are going for a name that (1) they can stuff meaning into, (2) Easily trademarked and (3) something VERY easy to say and remember.

    This is, well, total crap. Not that it'll stop me from buying one, but still...that's just a really, really stupid name. Is a long 'e' even the standard English pronunciation of "ii"? (it's not a common syllable, so I'm not sure.)

    I have to assume it sounds clever in Japanese, and I still hold out hope that they'll change the English name to something else (unlikely as that seems).

    Is there any sort of confirmation of this on Nintendo's own website? Both times I've tried to check www.nintendo.com, it seemed to be having serious issues (probably because of this story making the rounds)

    I was able to visit the official Nintendo website before it went down. I am now 100% sure this is one true world-wide name of the console.

    I'll still buy Nintendo's Wii Wii no matter what it's called.

    The trailer is still cool, and now the system has a spiffy double entendre to go along with it!

    Yeah, I still don't know how to pronounce it. But I think Revolution was a fine name for it.

    Hot damn, now I'll have to endure years of lame wordplay like 'Wii will rock you' and 'Wii are the champions'.

    I will always remember I read it here first. I guess it's one of those kinds of moments.

    That's right sonny. Back in my day the internet was use for information and funny things. And porn was pure....not this spyware filled crap. We had a 2400 baud modem and web pages were simple...damnit look at me when I'm talking to you boy!. I my day we respected our elders and, and.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
