Quick Linux Question

edited December 2007 in Technology
None of my KDE applications seem to work on Ubuntu anymore. I've been messing around a lot with this, so I probably screwed up something.
Any ideas as to what the hell just happened?

Your question is far too vague to be answered. We needz more info.

  • You haven't noticed that you are using Windows, by accident?
  • Eh, yeah, what Steve said, information please. Did you remove any of the KDE libraries? Try reinstalling the core KDE libraries, perhaps it'll fix itself then. If not, give info. What did you do when 'messing around a lot'. Even Scott can't give you a definite answer with this little info... I guess.
  • Open a terminal and type in a command like kwrite or amarok to try to start a KDE application. Then see what it says.
  • You are right, sorry for being so vague. Anyways I tried running kwrite and I got this error message:
There was an error setting up inter-process communications for KDE. The message returned by the system was:
Could not read network connection list.
    /root/.DCOPserver_User_0
  • I typed in "Could not read network connection list." into Google and this was the second link.
