Does no one here have a PS3?

edited November 2008 in Video Games
With the coming of Left 4 Dead and the need to pick up a few people to get a game going, my Steam friends list has just about tripled, mostly with people from the Geeknights group. I've had this same problem with my PSN friends list though. Not enough people to get random games going. However, the IDShare shows that no one else has a PS3 . . . Can this really be?

If you do have a PS3 and are willing, lemme get your account name so I can attempt to triple my current friends list and facilitate online play of things like LittleBigPlanet.

  • The price-to-good-games ratio isn't high enough if you don't have a lot of free time. ^_~
  • My little brother got one, but PS3 has no Forza 2 so I care not for this system.
  • I have a PS3, I'll be on it more once I get a few games for it. Probably not LittleBigPlanet though, I have other games I want to play.

Also PS3 may not have Forza 2, but it has Gran Turismo.
  • Yeah, I bought a PS3 when they launched. I don't really have all that many games to play online, but I will grab Little Big Planet at some point. My PSN ID is Sean_R.
  • I have one, but I haven't played it since Disgaea 3 came out.
  • I have a PS3 but I only use it as a Blu-Ray player.
  • Also PS3 may not have Forza 2, but it has Gran Turismo.
I played GT3 and GT4 for more hours of my life than any other leisure activity I've ever taken part in. Forza 2 is just better.
  • I've had a PS3 since about last year, it's my only current-gen console and I'm pretty satisfied with it.

I've been planning on getting LittleBigPlanet, but for now I'm set with Street Fighter HD Remix. Its probably the best online fighting experience ever, it just reminded me of how Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo is the best video game ever.
  • I have one too, but it's mostly used as a Blu-Ray/DVD player. Sadly, if a game comes out on either the PC or 360 first, the PS3 misses out, but there are enough exclusives now that it's almost worth the purchase price.

Also, Driving Force wheel + GT5 Prologue = Awesome.

PSN id is thaneocawdor (mind the missing 'f'), friend me if you dare.

    Same here.

However, my boyfriend does play it only for Ratchet & Clank, God of War, and Kingdom Hearts.

One day I'll play Kingdom Hearts 2, so I can find out what's going on with Sora and the others.
  • I don't own a PS3, due to what Rym said (price to games ratio). I know only a small handful of people who have it. One guy bought it for Metal Gear Solid 4. Another has one because his dad bought it for a Blu-Ray player.
  • I have a PS3 but I only use it as a Blu-Ray player.
I plan to do the exact same thing the instant the price drops below ~150 euros.
  • I'm Railith on PSN, but I usually just play PS2 games on the thing.
  • I have a PS3 that I bought for MSG4, but i'm not online with it and I mostly now use it for porn and it's Blu Ray capabilities.
  • I have access to one through my brothers, but I don't own any current-gen systems at the moment. Hopefully that hole will be filled with a Wii in the very near future.

Don't buy a wii. There aren't any good games on it (unless you like wii fit and the like)

What are you talking about? There are a lot of good games that aren't just waggle games. Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, Super Mario Galaxy, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Wario Land: Shake It!, Super Mario Strikers: Charged, Dr. Mario Online Rx, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King, and Lost Winds just to name some games off the top of my head.

    I have one!!! PSN: Toshiro94
I got a PS3, and I really like it. I don't get called a fag every time I kill a person, the people I meet are generally nice and funny. I also like it because my PC can't play games like COD4. Also playing online is free!
    With the price thing....
For me a 360 would be more expensive because I would have needed the wireless adapter, mic/chatpad, and paying to pay online....
Also the I have an original launch 60gb, works wonderfully! Do you know anyone with a working launch 360? All my friend have had to turn their 360's in at least twice.

  • Just bought an 80gb backwards compatible one last week from a friend. My ID there is the same as my ID here. I have Little Big Planet and MGS4. Although, like many others I mostly used it as a Blu Ray player. Wall-E is beautiful in high definition : )
There are a few titles I would like to play, such as Drake's Fortune and Heavenly Sword, although I don't see myself buying them for full price. Perhaps, I'll buy them when they're dirt cheap, or I'll just add them to my Gamefly queue.

Isn't that game, by its title, defined as a waggle game? : p
  • The only parts of that game that involve waggle is that you tilt the Wiimote to aim when you throw enemies, shake it to shake money bags and to activate a super ground pound. The rest of the game is controlled with the wiimote turned sideways in a classic mode. It has about as much waggle as Super Mario Galaxy or Twilight Princess.
  • I have a PS3, my ID is thehollow89. Anyone can add me if they want. I tend to play single player games, but I do have Socom.
  • I bought my PS3 knowing that I had to play Metal Gear and whenever the ICO team gets their act together and puts out the next game, its gonna be a PS3 exclusive, so I understood it would pay off eventually.

I just bought LittleBigPlanet and Burnout Paradise, and I must say, Paradise for 30 bucks is well worth it. Most fun in a racer in a long time. That and they keep adding content to it, with the next update adding an entire island to the playable world.

I also realize I'm an idiot for not putting my PSN name up in the first post. It is "classicdms". I will add the few of you who put yours up and hope that we end up having some games to play.

Seconded. However, if you are an evildoer, you can get those games (and more) for free.

  • The Home open beta is up and running. Anyone else planning to use it?
  • I'm on! Always looking for new people to play with. I play COD4 and soon I hope to grab LittleBigPlanet.

    PSN: SolarPlexus7

This is, unfortunately, almost identical to my experience of Home. My warning to all potential Home users: do not sit down in a public place - you will be faceraped.
  • My brother got one last weekend I think in the weekend he will install linux.
In the mean time the games we play the most are Megaman 9 and Guitar Hero World Tour :P

Yes, but you can't play them with a decent controller. For the cost of getting a PC with emulators connected to your TV and connecting 4 wireless 360 controllers to it, and the time it takes to set it up, you can get a wii, wiimotes, gamecube games, and a bunch of VC games.
  • PSN ID: Arachnian
I'm not on my PS3 much and any multiplayer gaming I do is on Xbox
Live. If there's a single player experience I want to have, that's when I fire
up the PSTriple. Metal Gear Solid 4 and Uncharted were great titles. Aside
from "Quincying" there isn't much to do in Home.

If a multiplayer game that isn't just a platformer construction set (sorry, LBP
for overrated title of forever) or a shooter outdone on another platform
arrives, I'll be right there with you.
