In a word: unoriginality. Using the names you put forth assuming full well they describe the pokemans you own, here are my names that are much better: gespenst, nightmare, and smaug.

I name them after mythological beings. In Leaf Green, it was Norse mythology. In Platinum, it was Greek. I think I will be going Shinto for Soul Silver.

Compared to that, my method is superior. I don't nickname them, I just teach them Frustration.
  • Ferny
You could go for the oblique Tolkien reference and name it Bill.
  • Leafy Mcplant
  • Leafy Mcplant
Or you could go with Planty McLeafalot.

    Robert Credenza.
  • Naiur Urs Skiotha, Breaker of Men and Horses.
  • Audrey Jr.- for the obvious reasons
Call it "My Marijuana" for confusion's sake.

For example - "Oh Christ, I forgot to water My Marijuana. I hope it doesn't dry out too much."
If you are going that route just call it "my baby." As in "oh shit, I forgot to feed my baby, I hope it hasn't died!"
  • Soylent Green
  • The plant formerly known as Fern.
  • Midori.
Really? Green? That's like Leo the Lion. Welcome to the Redundancy Department of Redundancy.

I didn't know what Midori mean't. I just like that Japanese name. Got it from watching this anime called Midori Days.

Who gives a fuck? It's Japanese, sounds neat, AND its English meaning is plant related. If I name my kid Rex and he becomes a king of something, it doesn't make his name invalid.

Also, since when is redundancy an issue when doing something as ridiculous as naming a plant? I mean, we did have Robert Plant as a suggestion. Clever? Yes. Redundant? 50%.

I was mostly kidding. I also like the word Midori.
  • The name of the phylum ferns belong to is Pteridophyta, so how about Terry?
