EeeBox 1501

EeeBox 1501 gets unboxed

This looks like a cheaper, alternative to the Mac mini in the living room.

  • I may consider getting this next year.

I wouldn't count on it, the Atom is very limp as far as CPUs go. My netbook can not play back 720P H.264 anime videos, it's just too much for the CPU.

Ah, but this is an ION. Video playback is NVidia GPU accelerated.

I've heard that many many times and yet it never seems to pan out like that in reality. It's usually awesome GPU decoding!...only in our proprietary program that doesn't work worth two shits.
  • I'm getting an Eee Netbook for Xmas so I'm going to wait and see how I enjoy that and determine if I trust Asus when it comes to quality. I cheated a little bit and already opened it so I could install the Crunchee OS on it and have it already to go for Xmas morning.
  • The important question is: Is it rock solid and heart-touching?
