  • The show is fine, but the redesign irritates me. I have a strong nostalgic tie to the old My Little Pony. (My Little Pony 3rd Birthday Party FTW!)

I think they look better, actually. (But it's a matter of opinion.) I think that the redesign is more stylish and interesting, rather than being simply drawings of how the toys look.

It is a matter of opinion. I don't think the new ones look terrible, they just look like the folder art from the early nineties that all the girls in school had. Remember the hyper-colored, giant-eyed horses, butterflies, etc.?
The new toys are modeled after the new design.

    OMG Lisa Frank!
  • I am holding firmly to my ingrained gender biases. I will refuse to watch any cartoon about the following topics: Ponies, unicorns, fairies, princesses, fashion, that cute guy, rainbows, brights, anything pink or cuddly, anything that uses the term "heartwarming," caring, bearing, pastels, true love, kindness, dancing, dolls, girl power, angels (except Victoria's Secret), any type of Gilmore, kissing, fruit, or shopping.

    I couldn't remember the name. ^_^

Andrew uses care bear stare at Jason! It's super effective!

So basically, no Disney cartoons? Heartwarming, kindness, and caring are nice!
And what about Radiskull? That has an angel in it, and a devil doll.

Is it the Angel of Death? I can make an exception if it wields either a sword or sickle, or ideally, dual-wields both. Liberally.

Is there a cartoon about the Gilmore girls? Also, based on your qualifiers, you haven't seen/refuse to watch The Last Unicorn, which is just a bit sad.
I hate mech shows, but I still concede that there are good mech shows and the good ones, I watch.

    Gilmore girls
No. That was a pre-emptive strike, should that evil ever be animated.
    The Last Unicorn
I would watch The Last Unicron.

  • fairies, princesses
No Super Mario Brothers Super Show? No Legend of Zelda? You are dead to me.
  • I don't think "about" is the same as "featuring"/"named after".

I'm pretty sure The Legend of Zelda is about a princess. Named Zelda. It also features this asshole that is always going after the princess. Also, there's a fairy that is featured prominently.

  • It would be kinda cool to play a Zelda game where Zelda did something other than run into walls and send you on fetch quests.

Also, it is one of the worst cartoons ever made, princess.

You could play the one on the CDi!
  • Powerpuff Girls.

Jason, of course you would watch The Last Unicron. The whole planet will, it will be the last thing we ever see.

Also, your criterium discounts Princess Mononoke, at least 3 other very good films featuring a "Princess Leia", please reset your filters.

    Ponies - Westerns
    Unicorns - Gundam Unicorn.
    Fairies - Peter Pan
Princesses - Any Fantasy. Lord of the Rings?
Fashion - Everything that isn't porn (where they wear no clothes at all). Also, porn.
Cute Guy - Every action movie.
    Rainbows - Reading Rainbow.
    Brights - WTF?
    Ping/Cuddly - Kirby
    Heartwarming - Futurama
    Caring -
    Bearing - Yogi
    Pastels -
    True Love - everything
    Kindness -
    Dancing - Kung-Fu Hustle/Bollywood
    Dolls - Chucky
Girl Power - Ghost in the Shell
    Angels - Charlie's
    Gilmore - WTF?
    Kissing - Everything.
    Fruit - William Tell
Shopping - Dawn of the Dead

Ok, so caring, pastels and kindness are the only three that hold water.
  • True Love - Princess Bride
  • Ok, so caring, pastels and kindness are the only three that hold water.
Caring/Kindness - Totoro, Kiki, lots of Ghibli films
Pastels - My Neighbors the Yamadas.

Also, Nausicaa is girl power and princesses, and if you hate that, I can discount your opinion of entertainment.
  • True Love -Princess Bride
"No doubt, true love is the greatest thing in the world... Except for a nice mutton-lettuce BLT where the mutton is nice and lean and the lettuce is fresh and crisp... Mmmm, they're so tasty, I love that... But, that's not what he said! He distinctly said 'To blaaaave', and, we all know 'to blave' means to bluff, right? So you were probably playing cards, and he cheated-"

My sister wants the priest at her wedding to be some old dude, and to pay him to do the "Mawwage" speech.
  • but what else would you expect from the woman who made Power puff girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends?
Craig McCracken created Powerpuff Girls and Foster's. Lauren Faust is his wife who also happened to work on both shows.

That said, I just watched the first three episodes and must say I am disappointed so far. People keep saying how this show captures the "old school Cartoon Network" vibe, but I think that Adventure Time, Regular Show, and Flapjack are far, far cleverer. I didn't even crack a smile with this show. Unfortunately, I think Craig is the missing ingredient. While MLP:FIS is certainly more palatable than one would expect, it is certainly not anything very special.
  • JG Quintel does bring that LSD-tinged flair to everything he touches, along with a lot of well-hidden, really mature jokes. He's probably my favorite children's animator out there.
  • And no one has been talking about Genndy Tartakovsky's new show! What the fuck is wrong with the world? Everyone loves Dexter's Lab and Samurai Jack, so why aren't people watching Sym-bionic Titan?

Because I didn't know that was a thing that existed.
