Pirates

edited September 2006 in Video Games
Pirates is one of my all-time favorite PC games.

I started playing this on my old C-64. Eventually I purchased an IBM-PC and got the version for that.

For those who may not know... Pirates used a very simple copy protection scheme.

1) It would ask you where the various treasure trains/fleets would be in a given month.
2) The disk was not a DOS disk. I'm not sure what format it was written in but it was not DOS and could not be installed to a hard disk.

I still play this game every now and then. I have it on a 3 1/2 floppy and I still have my old "save disk" that goes with it.

When this game came out the inclusion of the Caribbean map helped add to it's awesomeness.

We played the hell out of this game back when it came out! It ruled the C-64 until other classic games such as AH-64 and the gold box SSI AD&D games came out.

Good call talking about it!

  • I used to play those gold box games. They were hellishly difficult, yet awesome in their own way.
