That was good. But. The film grain effect was really putting me off.
  • Rogue One looks kinda bad, like Divergent/Hunger Games with samurai and Storm Troopers.
  • Star Wars looks kinda bad, like The Hidden Fortress with samurai and Storm Troopers.

  • I just don't like how "Smash the State" our protagonist it. Ray and Fin were characters I could get behind. "What can I say, I rebel." Who says crap like that? Edgy movie protagonists do. I can't deny that Forrest Whitaker looks pretty cool though.
Of course every Star Wars movie is derivative. That's part of the charm, they're epic stories that have been told throughout human history.
  • Rogue One looks boss.
  • What is it that you like about it?
  • What is it that you like about it?

X-Wings, TIE Fighters, pew pew pew!!!

  • I have full faith in Rogue One at this point.
  • You guys are falling for a Troooooollllllll :-p
  • Regardless, I will start The Lord's Work soon. Consuming all of the spoilers because I just don't give a fuck. And it's fun to see if I can predict the quality of the film based on them. It worked well for Force Awakens.
  • How am I trolling?
My expectations were a movie based on Rogue Squadron, but it looks like a higher budget version of Teen Angst "I'm different so the adults are evil" movies like Maze Runner. No amount of pretty screen shots are going to make me like those boring characters.
And why would Asian people in space be samurai?

    Really kid?

  • I don't see how that's related to my distaste of this movie.

It poisons any other opinions you might express.

Is what we're getting from this movie really what you wanted?

Dunno. Haven't seen it yet, and I'm not the type to start deciding the tone of a movie or the traits of it's characters based on a single line of dialog taken out of context.

See: Star Trek Beyond. Trailers made it look like garbage. But it's pretty good.

  • I refuse to see a Star Trek movie with space elves and motor bike racing.
  • And yet they make it make sense.

Also how is a space elf too "out there" for a series that just makes up the most ridiculous alien species constantly? If anyone is an actual space elf it's Spock.
  • I refuse to see a Star Trek movie with a badass woman and motor bike racing.

  • I refuse to see a Star Trek movie with space elves and motor bike racing.

If you throw in Diagetic beastie boys tracks, and you've basically outlined every reason I do want to see it.
  • Aren't Vulcans basically space elves? They've got the ears for it.

And heightened intelligence. Sans magic they're basically just D&D elves.
