  • Some choice comments about the panel from /r/anime:

Is the bald guy some religious nut who believes the erotic stuff will bring people to abandon puppies, riot and go to hell?

    >Two adults start talking about how fantastic Trigun is.
Oh god, a bunch of normalfags are going to spend a whole hour telling you about how shows aren't like cowboy beebop anymore and how moe's ruining the industry.
    >"Madoka blew my mind."
    Okay I like them.

The guy on the right poses some legit ideas, The guy on the left seems to just agree with him and call half the shows porn and insults anything with fan service.

I have to ask...what kind of bottomwear is the guy on the right wearing? Is that a kilt? It cerainly doesn't look like shorts, but that looks too not-Scottish to be a kilt. I'm so confused...

(These are just some of the random, sillier ones. Most people seemed to agree dead-to-rights with the Dynamic Duo.)
  • It's just funny seeing the anime world that never listened to GeekNights become aware of our stuff. This is actually the first "anime" panel we've ever uploaded video of.
  • Hey, look at all the upvotes and views we got. That's where they came from! Should wait for a slow day to put Dudebro on reddit.
  • Anime is generally a low "barrier to entry" world. It doesn't take much to be "top tier" entertainment at an anime convention. It's 1000x more work to meet the level of polish for, say, PAX, and there you'll face a great deal more criticism and scrutiny.

At anime cons, If you show up, are moderately funny, talk the whole time, and have something even remotely novel to bring to the table, you'll win the crowd.
  • As of 12:47 PM eastern, you have 113 votes, only 13 of them downvotes. That's a pretty damn good /r/anime post.

    Karma thief.

Nothing stopping you from posting them. I know you have a reddit account, I see you in /r/netrunner all the time. :P
  • Yes, there's something stopping us. Once, I posted one of our videos, and it was downvoted into oblivion because I wasn't a regular contributor and was guilty of self-promotion. ;^)

I just don't think of posting my own shit. Who would want to watch that bullshit?

Weird. I've never seen that phenomenon in /r/anime.

Apparently, there's about 1,311 somebodies who wanna watch that shit.
  • When we fall off the front page, post our Utenas.
  • When we fall off the front page, post our Utenas.
If you guys get the Utenas to similar viewcounts, we'll put them out faster. I'm sitting on one I just have to edit and render. ;^)

    Deal.
  • Actually Neptune is a parody on Otaku culture. The three main characters that aren't the main main characters are PlayStation, Wii, and Xbox 360. It's published by Sega, and has a lot of old school obscure Sega references. It's also about figurative and literal console wars. I have not played it, this is all from some article I read like four years ago. The show is probably gonna be a lot like the game and that article. Cover is a trap.
  • The loli-loving trolls on Reddit did not like my bait as much as I had hoped.
  • I love these youtube comments.

"You only need to watch the first 3 minutes to know that they are dumb and are probably talking rubbish through the whole video.
I hate to say it, but a guy who looks like the one with the pontytail, shouldnt judge other people and laugh about them."
  • JUDGMENT ABOUT GUY.
But yeah, that guy really shouldn't like, judge people, you know? That would be super, like, judgmental.
  • Note: I would watch Spice and Wolf primarily for the economics. I really like shows about economics.
  • "You are horribly wrong. Read the manga and after you get done crying your eyes out come back."

Err, okay guy. Do you just cry real easy or something? The manga wasn't that bad, but it was hardly impactful enough to be worth a cry.

"You only need to watch the first 3 minutes to know that they are dumb and are probably talking rubbish through the whole video."

He said in a section of the internet that's considered the antithesis of intelligent discussion or worthwhile commentary.

If you want people who take the bait EVERY TIME, then try either SRS, any of the Libertarian/Anarcho-capitalist subs, or any of the conspiracy subs.

What about Madoka? The cover looks like your typical school girl trash. image
How in the hell does it look like trash to you?

  • It doesn't look like trash necessarily, just boring average magical girl show.
  • Yeah, "trash" is definitely too harsh, but Madoka Magicka doesn't sell itself on the character designs alone.
  • It doesn't look like trash necessarily, just boring average magical girl show.
Exactly. I want to spend my time only on the exceptionally good shows. Unless someone tells you Madoka is great, there is little reason to believe it is anything more than generic magical girls.
  • Three new forum applications because of the video. How come our PAX videos don't make this happen?
  • PAX people are self-centered and think they've got it all figured out, anime watchers seek community and people who think the same way they do? I dunno, just a guess, I don't know PAX people as a whole very well.

Speaking of applications, a friend of mine said you didn't accept hers despite meeting all your stated requirements.

Yeah you really don't know much about PAX or it's community.

  • It's more, to be perfectly honest, that PAX has a much higher grade of performance in the panel rooms than the average anime con, coupled with the fact that we tend to go more academic at recent PAXes.

It's easier to be a bigger fish in a smaller pond...
  • That reddit thread was hilarious. I haven't seen that many pissed-off otaku since the last time I came across a Sub Vs Dub argument.

Even funnier - the ones who can't actually point out anything wrong with the content, so they have a go at appearances.

Funniest so far - the guy giving his advice on fashion, and people who want to look good, and blah blah blah, but he doesn't know the difference between a fedora and a trilby.
  • So far my favorite is the guy calling Rym "Long-Hair-Kun".

Which, for the record, is what I'm going to call Rym from now on.
