Movies you can watch over and over again

edited August 2009 in Movies
What movies can you watch over and over again and still enjoy?

I'll kick this thread off with two obvious choices:
  • Attack the Gas Station - Provided I have a new group to watch it with each time. I have seen this film at least seven times, and will probably see it a few more in college.
  • Star Wars Original Trilogy

    • Pump Up The Volume
    • Battle Royale
  • These aren't necessarily my favorite films (though a few are), but I have seen the following films several times without tiring of them:
Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice (with Colin Firth), LotR trilogy, Princess Bride, Blazing Saddles, Harvey, 12 Angry Men, Inherit the Wind, The Lion in Winter, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967), Psycho Beach Party, To Kill a Mockingbird, Stargate, Labyrinth, Bringing Up Baby, Love Actually, Serenity, The Seven Year Itch, Sabrina, Sweet Charity, Little Voice, the list could go on and on.

I can re-watch a lot of of older movies without tiring of them, particularly if they have one of the following actors in them: Audrey Hepburn, Katherine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy, Cary Grant, Rock Hudson, Doris Day, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, Marilyn Monroe, Lauren Bacall, Ingrid Bergman, and again the list could go on and on.
    • Fifth Element
    • Serenity
    • Disney/Pixar Movies
Many more, but those are the ones that came to mind.
  • From the top of my head,The Prestige, 28 days later, UP, Labyrinth, Yojimbo and Jacob's ladder.
  • 12 Angry Men
Good Godwin yes; that is such a good movie. There really aren't a lot of movies that I enjoy watching more than twice, though. The aforementioned and Punch Drunk Love are the only ones that comes to mind.

    • Reservoir Dogs
    • Snatch
    • Total Recall
Those are three films I have seen more times than any others.
I still can't get enough of them.

The Big Lebowski, Barton Fink, and O Brother, Where Art Thou?
Coen Brothers films are always good for multiple viewings.

Without spending too much time thinking about it -- Evil Dead II, The Road Warrior/Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome, Repo Man, the original Star Wars movies, Pulp Fiction, most of Wes Anderson's films, and I can't believe no one said Blade Runner yet.

That's all? Aren't there any more?
  • Most movies that I deem good, I can watch over and over again (just with varying amounts of re-consuming per year).
  • Anything by MIyazaki
    The Princess Bride
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
    The Incredibles
Several other old Disney movies (Aladdin, Hercules, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, etc.)

That's just a few of them. There are probably more that I can't think of.

I didn't see a requirement to name every film I can see over and over again. But if you insist on more, have another one: It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie.

Wait, Hercules and The Hunchback OLD?! Crap I'm getting close to passing HungryJoe!

  • Shawshank! I haven't seen that in a few years. It is time Andy, Red and I met again.
  • Trainspotting as well. Every time that I watch, I pick up bits of the heavily accented dialogue that I had previously missed, and Kelly Macdonald is absolutely gorgeous.
  • Casino never gets old for me. Any time it's on tv, I'll watch however much of it I can.

I am with you, my friend. I have never been a big fan of De Niro, but he's gold in that film. The costuming and period details are spot on, and the final cornfield scene gets me every time. Casino is second fiddle to Goodfellas by a very small margin.
  • The Matrix (I must have seen this 10 times already)
    LOTR Trilogy
    The Bourne Trilogy
    Fight Club
    12 Angry Men
    Pulp Fiction
Kill Bill volumes 1 and 2

    The Lion King
    Star Trek 11 (JJ Abrams)
    Star Trek: First Contact
    Shawshank Redemption
    The Prestige
  • - Dark City
Rym still hasn't seen this. I keep trying to make him watch it.
