What places should I see?

In short I'm going to be a marine and for four years I get to see the world. What should I see? I love anime so the first year I'm going to Japan. If anyone has been to Japan where should I go and see.

    Are you going to Japan because you like anime or are you going because you are genuinely interested in the culture there?

    I love the culture, but I don't know as much as i think a do. So its a learning thing.

    This I know but I plan on going at some point no matter what. Also I would like to know good sight seeing places all over.
