  • As someone who doesn't really pay much attention to the Expanded Universe (especially outside of the vidjigames), I kinda hope they just ignore it and do their own thing.

But Thrawn is SO good. Rym and Scott (of "Most of Everything is Awful" fame) like Thrawn, IIRC.

Thrawn is like Anasûrimbor Kellhus and Admiral Nelson smashed together at high speed. But not in the Jam-like paste kind of way.

I doubt I would appreciate revisiting Timothy Zahns books after some 15 years... Probably quite the step down after reading R. Scott Bakkers work.

  • If you thought "Harry Potter" was written poorly, try going back to "Heir to the Empire." It's like it was written in crayon. Great stuff it is not.
  • I recently read and reviewed A Splinter of the Minds Eye. Probably one of the worst written books I've ever read.

Yeah, I bought it in early 2011 and was appalled.
  • My money is on some sort of Jedi Academy film with Luke being a wizened instructor and young teenage boy who has a dark destiny to follow.
  • I'm with everyone else. High chance of lameness, but I've already put up my mental shields regarding Star Wars. My fondness for the original 3 films is protected, and the onslaught of shit doesn't affect it anymore. All that can come from this is a small chance of additional awesome Star Wars being produced. If not, that's just the status quo.
  • Have you seen Mark Hamill lately? He's entered his fat elvis years, dude looks more like a Gamorean than a jedi these days.
  • I watched Jedi a few weeks ago. I must admit that huge portions of that movie are no better than The Phantom Menace. Only that it continues and wraps up the characters and stories from Empire makes it shine so much in people's minds.

    Animated Star Wars movie...
  • Yeah, we can have a CGI Luke Skywalker.
  • Return of the Jedi does not suck because

    1) Epic scenes in the Emperor's chamber
    2) Never was there a space battle as big and awesome as that one in any movie before, and perhaps even since.
    3) I like Ewoks and even the Ewok song.
  • I agree with Rubin on all points.
  • I like Ewoks and the Ewok song, but I grew up with them. My first exposure was at 7 years old. I can understand, though, how Ewoks are the older generation's Jar Jar Binks.

Also it was actually the first Star Wars movie I saw.
  • "Do you like Ewoks?" Is a question I use to ascertain whether or not a woman is too young for me to date.
  • Oh, I forgot. The beginning Jabba the Hutt rescue is also the best. Think about how much Star Wars epicness comes just from that opening. Rancor, Sarlacc, carbonite, Salacious Crumb, thermal detonator, "you will take me to Jabba now," slave leia, R2 serving hors d'oeuvres. The only problem is when Han is unrealistically hanging by his feet off the side of the hovercraft. Face palm that shot every time.
  • I love ewoks! Why does everyone (in general) hate on the ewoks all the time? They are cute, snuggly, adorable, and are nice to Princess Leia! ._.
  • Don't forget forest speeder chase scene. That was cool.

Because Ewoks are cutesy and teddy bear like and sort of make it into the Care Bear movie at the end. I cannot fucking stand Jar Jar, so I understand this angle even though Ewoks got me young and therefore I like them.

  • Jar Jar is not cute at all. Hes freaky and kind of scary looking in a dumb way, and does nothing but goof around in a lame fashion. Ewoks though... I just want to hug them! ^_^
