Over half a million people are going to rally in Washington D.C. on October 26 against the NSA's surveillance programs. If you're able to join, please do.

  • Yeah I watched South Park this week too.
  • Yeah I was on /r/IamA this week too.
  • Yeah I was on the Internet this week too.
  • I'm sure they'll put a video of the rally out soon after.

You mean somebody will survey the Rally Against Mass Surveillance?
  • I got an email from a SuperPAC asking me to "RSVP" to the Rally Against Mass Surveillance.

    but nawwww
  • I wish we could just get everyone to encrypt everything and put even more (unimportant) data out there. Fill up those petabytes with shit they can't or won't use.
  • Rallys mean nothing. Remember your "Rally for Sanity?" Remember how "important" it was to everyone at the time?

    Zero effect. Entirely forgotten.

This will be no different. Rallies mean nothing unless they overwhelm, resort to violence, or otherwise can't be ignored.
  • I would totally go to a rally against rallies.
  • Show up to this in a suit with a camera and take everyone's picture.
  • I thought it was a rally to restore fear? :-/
  • IIRC, it was the Rally to Restore Sanity and Keep Fear Alive.
  • My kind of rally

  • My kind of rally.

  • You must be pretty used to rallies as a Mets fan.
  • The Mets have fans?

I would note, that to this day I still see people wearing Rally to restore sanity stickers everywhere and generally use it to find cool people. Also, Unlike the hater Rym, I got to the rally early brought homemade signs and had a lot of FUN.

And got mentioned in NPR :-p

It also probably helped some American's hold out hope that they were not going to get rolled by Teabaggers

  • The people I was with refused to go over early and thought that the Metro wouldn't be completely overloaded...
  • The Rally for Reason was just as fun even in the rain for the trolling of the counter protesters and Tim Minchin :-p
  • My kind of Rally
    [DELICIOUS FRIES]
Oh shit, I need to go to Checkers RIGHT NOW.

Introduced? Ha. Call me when it's up for a final vote in both houses.

  • REMINDER: Only 2% of bills introduced will be enacted. The vast majority die in committee -- even if not especially the ones that are politically profitable.

Hell call me up when one calls up a vote for cloture.

  • Still not much. Those companies might attract a brand name politician (no offense, but the two who proposed it are kind of nobodies) and then we could see some traction, but as is I'm still not expecting much.
