Uninterruptible Power Supply

edited July 2016 in Technology
My UPS died on me recently and I need to get a backup. Does anyone have suggestions on which ones to get? What specs should I look for?

EDIT: I'm thinking of getting something suitable for a computer with an 850W power supply.

  • Get a new battery for the UPS you have already. I can't imagine the actual UPS is dead.
  • Yea usually those have trivally easy batteries to replace. I do it all the time at work.

We had one die at work... when my boss accidentally spilled a mug of coffee on it while bending over in the equipment closet and asking me "What is this thing?" He did this just after I had installed it. It is so, so heavy and I had to reinstall the replacement the next day - while in a skirt and heels. FML.
  • They're just big old lead acid batteries.

    Tried that. It's dead.
  • Just get an APC unit appropriate for your draw.
