Just deleted Java

edited February 2008 in Technology
I just deleted Java from my system. Is it just me, or is it a bloated piece of crap? And let's not even mention the fact that it hogs hard-drive space by keeping all old versions on your machine.

I just got sick of webpages performing really poorly while some bloated Java app was trying to load.

  • Something is definitely wrong. I have only the newest Sun JDK, JRE and mozilla plugin installed, and there are no problems.

Try http://www.ccleaner.com/ to clean things up and see if that helps :)

Wow, that doesn't look like spyware at all. The stuff it supposedly does can be done manually, with ease.

It's actually very good, and it's not scumware at all.

When I installed Ubuntu it was using IcedTea. When I installed java-6-sun it seemed to work better. Any reason?

Yes. There are many open sources JVMs, but they all suck. The official Sun Java is the only one that is worth a shit.
