Republicans outnumber Democrats online?

edited November 2006 in Everything Else
Me thinks this Poll somewhat flawed.

Most republicans I know don't even know how to use the internet.

You know, because Republicans are usually old people.

Get it.

  • Well, you know the famous saying (often mis attributed to Winston Churchill):
If you're not Liberal when you're 25, you have no heart. If you're not Conservative when you're 35, you have no brain.

That's not how I heard it. I've always heard "If you're not a socialist when you're 25, you have no heart. If you are a socialist when you're 35, you have no brain." It's really tough to pin down the origins of this quote, who came up with it, the actual ages said, etc. I've heard it told so many different ways and attributed to so many different people. I think I should just come up with my own version, and then everyone will be able to correctly say it originated with me.

As for political affiliations on the Internets, I can't say. What I can say is the smart:stupid ratio of the Internet is much better than that of the real world. You have to be at least a tiny bit literate to have a voice on the Internetrons.
  • But Scott, I think there's a difference between having a voice and voting in an on-line poll or just being one of the rabble. How does this company collect their data?
I'll not argue it, I just want to see their methods.
  • Judging by the stories that hit the front page in the political area of Digg I would have to say more democrats are on line then republicans.

Some "talking heads" have speculated that the liberals figured out that if they can't win talk radio they can win the Internet. Dean did a great job before he blew up in that speech...

Dean raised a ton of money using the net, democrats have not forgotten that.

It's also true that the net (being a new technology) is populated more younger kids then adults... Except for porn sites... well, no that probably has a bigger underage audience too...

My point is that I believe there are far more liberals on line then conservatives.

    First, define "on the Internet."
    Then, define "young" and "old."
Next, prove which age range (young or old) has more online users.
Penultimately, draw a statistically relevant correlation between age and party affiliation.
Finally, cross-check the data to posit a syllogism.

But as it is stated in previous posts, the arguments are all petitio principii.
