Egg Nog?

So, does anyone out there actually like eggnog?

Maybe I've just never had good nog, but I find the stuff vile, and it's made me queasy every time I've tried it, alcohol or no.

  • It's okay. I can drink maybe half a glass of it and the taste itself is alright but the texture is kind of gross. After the first half glass I start to feel kind of nauseous.

I have to drink it in very small quantities or dilute it with milk. It's very rich stuff. I find it delicious, but the whole lactose intolerance thing makes it a bit inconvenient.

  • Years ago my cousin gained about three pounds during the holiday season because he drank so much eggnog. Apparently some people find it enjoyable. Personally, I've never tried it before.
  • Eggnog is pretty damn gross, especially if you do this with it. I just can't believe how much eggnog dude drank. Holy shit.

Alright, that is seriously fucked up right there.

Have you tried Lactaid pills? My mother used to be intolerant so she'd always pack a bottle in her purse.
    Bargle!

Oh - Em - Gee! Scott is psychic!
  • I like eggnog. Before I came to the United States, I never had it. The first time I had it was on my first Christmas. Maybe is better here in Virginia, I normally get my eggnog from Giant or the local farmers market, it does not has any alcohol though. I like it better cold, and only one glass per day.
  • I've had east coast, west coast, middle coast, homemade, store bought, virgin, full 'o booze; it's all filthy. Even the name is unappealing. Egg-Nog. Grossness.
  • Eggnog is an inedible substance used by hobos to survive in cold weather.

That my friends, is what Eggnog is. Hobo-formula.
  • I personally can take a glass or two in the season. Much more than that and my stomach starts some sailor's knots. Strangely however, a local burger chain called Cookout manages to have an absolutely delicious eggnog milkshake. Its not my favorite of their 37 or so flavors, but somehow it still manages passing despite the fact it takes some of my least favorite things about eggnog (namely the thickness and the almost sickly sort of sweetness it has) and magnifies them.
  • I have always liked eggnog, but I have weird tastes.
  • I just saw the Good Eats episode on Egg Nog, and it doesn't seem so bad from scratch. I might have to try making it sometime.
  • I remember my grandmother making a non alcoholic variety once when when I was younger. As in most things, it is better when made fresh.
  • I had some over thanksgiving that was ridiculously thick. It was spiced, kind of like Chai. My cousin told me it was very rich, so if traditional eggnog was thinner and less sweet, I'd probably enjoy it.
  • Nog is awesome once a year.
  • I like Egg Nog during the Christmas season, but I may be imagining it nicer than it is as i do with all milk products.

What is wrong with you people? Egg-nog is a once a year specialty that all should enjoy to get in the holiday spirit like Railith said, but I have to admit after 5 glasses you get a little bit weird.

Well, the closer to pure milk something is the more icky it makes me feel. I don't like milk anymore anyway, so I just stay away from it. When I want to have ice cream o a milkshake, I just have small amounts and I'm fine. Things like yogurt and cheese don't bother me so much, so it's not really that bad.

That's not too bad then. My mom was so bad for a while that if she didn't haver her pills on her we'd have to order pizza without cheese. Ice cream and cheesecake were right out.

  • I've seen eggnog for sale at times other than Christmas actually. Weird.

Like August? 'Cause that's the store's Christmas shit.
  • Gah, this stuff is foul. With or without alcohol, it's just plain gross.

Possibly. It definitely wasn't Christmas though. Nothing else in the store was Christmas-ed up yet.
  • Hahaha, my entire apartment just took eggnog/baileys shots. I'm done until next December.

Eggnog is a once-a-year evil for me. It tastes like cookies that have been put through a blender. With half and half.
