I have a feeling that the story of one night's worth of oil burning for 8 nights is made up. Just a feeling.
Today at work, my dad was told that he can't say "Happy Holidays" because 'holiday' is a derivative of 'holy day'.
If I were your dad, I would start picking on anyone wishing someone a nice Wednesday evening, or any other day of the week. As you all probably know, in the English language, every day of the week is named after a deity. Wishing someone a nice Woden's day is a clear violation of the company's policy of religious neutrality!
