Indiana Jones

edited January 2007 in Everything Else
So, after the announcement that Indiana Jones 4 will be coming out in '08. I decided to re-watch the trilogy. It was pretty awesome. I remember the last time I watched it was about 3 years ago. I just can't wait to see the final chapter of such a great story.
My personal favorite is Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Temple of Doom sucks. Raiders of the Lost Ark is a great movie. Last Crusade is the best of the three. Sean Connery and "no ticket" can't be beat. I am not optimistic for the fourth movie. Hollywood has not produced anything even close to Indiana Jones quality since LotR. If the fourth Indiana Jones is up to part, that would be a miracle.

Apparantly Children of Men is fantastic. I haven't seen it yet, but I really want to.

I'm leery. There seems to be a manufactured, net-based, grassroots campaign to push this movie. I'll probably see it via Netflix someday, but I'm in no rush.

The guys at the "Movies you should see" podcast love it to bits. I'm not such a fan of Clive Owen, IMHO he's not a particularly good actor, he's just the next hip "British" thing like Hugh Grant was once upon a time.
  • Rottentomatoes shows Children of Men with 92% positive reviews. That takes it into the realm of a legitimate good movie. Snakes on a Plane, despite serious internet buzz, didn't get anywhere near that number of positive reviews.

I mean Scott, haven't you reached the point of cynical-ness that you'll never be able to trust anyone if a movie is good or not. I mean you used to use the Internet or friends but now you can't tell if they are part of some net-based or grass-root effort. I believe you now have no actual way to learn about new programs and such without being extremely put off by it.
  • There no more grass roots movements.

Grass roots movements are started by people who do not necessarily know what they are doing. Any campaign that says it is grass roots yet has never stumbled or had a major gaff is not a true grass roots movement.

I saw it. Didn't really like it. I thought the ending sucked. Slight spoilers:

I was kind of hoping for some fancy-shmancy future explanations for why the entire earth's population is infertile. At least some futuristic-sounding technologies would have been cool. But no. They didn't explain anything.

HMTK, I'm not really sure what that post is trying to say...

EDIT: Okay, I looked at it some more and figured it out, but Mr. Period's gonna whack that post soon.
Oh, yeah, on topic. Last Crusade = Best. No debate here. I agree with Temple of Doom sucking.
