Ubuntu/Hard Drive Partition help

edited May 2007 in Everything Else
When I installed Ubuntu (U-boon-too) I some how (read because I'm retarded) installed it twice. So I have 1 Windows partition and 2 Ubuntu partitions. I haven't worried about it since my new computer has crazy amounts of hard drive and I know which is which.

Now I want to update to Feisty Fawn and I think this is a good time to get rid of my superfluous Ubuntu partition BUT how do I tell which one is which?

In Grub I can see easily which is which, but in the thingy where you format hard drives it just has numbers. Can I find the number of my Windows and every day Ubuntu partitions so I don't lose all my data?

  • Run the command
    mount
That will tell you what file systems are currently mounted. That should be enough info to figure out which partitions are which.

Thank you, I will try that on the 'morrow.
