Java Certifications

edited May 2007 in Everything Else
I have just finished the penultimate year of my computer science degree course in which I study Java. My dad seems to think that I need to get Java certifications to be able to get jobs, but I seem to remember a GN episode where Scrym said that certs aren't really necessary unless you're an old guy to show that you can actually do work (or something similar). So is it worth it for me to get a Java cert?

  • A Bachelor of Science from a worthwhile school is worth more than all the certs in the world together.

Unless you have bad breath. Then you need a few Certs before going in for the interview.

  • A place that cares about certifications is not a place you want to work.
