The DS just keeps getting more badass...

The DS is going to the baseball stadium. Man, I love technology.
The innovative program is called the Nintendo Fan Network. For a fee, the network uploads a program onto the user's DS Lite and allows fans to order food and drinks, watch the live television feed of the game, access stats and scores and play trivia, all from the comfort of their seat - whether it's a premium seat behind home plate or in the top row of the stadium.

  • That is freakin' awesome!

Disney World just did something with the Pirates of the Caribean attraction and the DS game. Something about download Kiosks that interact with the game somehow.
  • I took my DS to Jacob's Field a couple of weeks ago when the Indians destroyed the Phillies 10-6. I checked to see if there was anyone on Pictochat, and sure enough, there were four others (within DS distance) using it. Good times.
  • Wow, I heard about that baseball thing, but apparently it is way better than I thought. This is what I mean when I talk about realizing the full potential of the platform.
  • That is truly amazing. I hope we see more things like this.
  • Wow! That's pretty damn awesome. I'm going to see the Mariners this upcoming Friday and Sunday. I'll bring my DS and let you know how things go!
  • Cool idea, but I have to pay to watch the baseball game that I'm watching on my DS?

The food thing is BRILLIANT however.
  • Nintendo is getting creative. And that's essential to their survival in this generation of consoles at this point.
  • I just thought I would comment that I was commenting using my DS with the Opera browser. It isn`t nearly as ass as you might think. I bet you could live blog very well with this platform.

I know this is old news, but I finally checked this out tonight at Safeco Field. It didn't cost anything. I just had to stop by a kiosk and it took less than 5 secs to have the people connect to their network. The Fans Network was overall mediocre. I can understand the games they had for being simple. They had word searches, trivia, and puzzle sliders. I didn't take too much time to explore everything, but the live feed was pretty impressive. There was maybe a half second delay, but it was cool to actually hear sports caster that you normally hear on the radio or on TV talk during the game.

I didn't order food, however the menu was the basic menu they had there. You have to register a credit card to make purchases. The special restaurants/food places weren't on there, but it didn't matter too much. They has features to where you can see the status of your order so you know how long it would take.

I plan on going back to a game in August. I might play around more with it to check out more features and possibly try ordering food.

For anyone else that goes to baseball games, do they offer it there?

Here is also an image of the live feed I was viewing.

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure it's only done because Nintendo owns the Mariners.

I highly recommend never traveling to New York. Those words will get you shot.

I'm a proud Bostoner, but not that proud. I keep the hat at home when I go to New York.
