Freakonomics

edited July 2007 in Everything Else
So I just read Freakonomics and found it very interesting. Has anybody else here read it? Opinions?

The authors don't have any inhibitions about treading on touchy issues. The chapter on abortion is the most polemical, I think, but the arguments seem sound. All in all, a very intriguing book.

  • I listened to the audiobook, but I too found it very interesting. I have an economics degree, so I was interested to see what the book was about since I had heard a lot about it. I find it really interesting how they are able to find interesting correlations into how things happen in real life. Its really a side of economics I am interested in looking into more. Hopefully they'll get around to writing another book one of these days.
  • I'm halfway through it and really enjoying it. The statistical analysis is excellent, and the humor is fine, too.
  • It's on my reading list for my trip to Okinawa.
  • I really enjoyed a lot of the anecdotal stuff in the book, especially the stuff in the "Why to drug dealers still live with their moms?" chapter.
  • Kiey, they announced a sequel, according to wiki.
