My Gaming Wishlist For The Next Six Months
- Bioshock: Xbox 360, Windows PC - FPS
One of the most promising FPS games I have seen in a long time. With a heavy Post-WWII Art Deco theme, Bioshock appears to have rich story line and innovative game play. Introduction of plasmids (genetic abilities that you are able to wield like spells) allow the player to customize their character to their preferred play style. I believe that this game looks to be on par with the great FPS games like HL2.
- Team Fortress 2: Xbox 360, PS3, Windows PC - FPS
Really, does anything more need to be said? We have been waiting for this game for a long time. It promises to be the number one multiplayer game of the year, if not the next few.
- Mass Effect: Xbox 360 - RPG
Bioware has a great history of making immersive games and RPG's. After playing KOTOR, I was impressed by their ability to freshen up the RPG genre, especially on the console. Mass Effect looks like it will provide a deep universe in which the story will develop and new technology will provide a seemingly cinematic experience. No more long dialog that has to be read before continuing with the conversation. Real time combat will also keep the player active in the game.
- Rock Band: Xbox 360, PS3 - Rhythm
Rock band takes the rhythm genre to the next level. Taking note from Guitar Hero, Rock Band will provide up four players to live out their musical desires by allowing them to play guitar, bass guitar, drums, or even sing in a USB microphone. This may be one of the ultimate party games.
- Super Smash Brothers Brawl: Wii - Fighting
The third installment in Nintendo's famous fighting series, SSB:B adds new levels and characters to allow gamers to battle it out with their favorite video game persona's. However, lacking any online functionality, SSB:B may fall short of of our expectations.
- Super Mario Galaxy: Wii - Platformer
Miyamoto is back with our favorite plumber, Mario. In our newest adventure, Mario will set out for outer space to rescue the Princess from Bowser. Two player co-operative functionality will certainly make this a game to pick up.
Notable Mentions:
- Half-Life 2: Episode Two: Windows PC - FPS
- Portal: Windows PC - Puzzle
- Call of Duty 4: Xbox 360, PS3, Nintendo DS, Windows PC - FPS
- Phoenix Wright:Ace Attorney - Trials and Tribulations: Nintendo DS - Visual Novel
Comments
Add two more games, Golden Sun DS and Phantom Hourglass.
Do NOT remove my edits!
Sorry.
Personally, I am happily awaiting the DS version of FFIV. Which, in light of my above statement, must seem sadly ironic.
Pretty much first party Wii games, and Syphon Filter on the PSP.
The only one up there that I'm super interested in is Brawl. Also Rockband and Mario Galaxy to a lesser extent. It's hard to be excited about games on consoles I don't own. My PS2 has still got plenty of life left in it, dangit! DX
Trials and Tribulations and Phantom Hourglass is where it's at!
I'm in love with my Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition, it's easier with the aiming reticle.
Also I'm kind of looking forward to Resident Evil - Umbrella Chronicles, the Wii exclusive. Rail Shooter FTW!
I was bummed out when I found out that Phantom Hourglass was coming out in '08. But I'll eventually get my hands on it. :D
I'm probably going to swap consoles with someone just so I can play Bioshock as I wouldn't want an X36 for much else.
Grand Theft Auto IV (360) - Oct. 16th
Assassin's Creed (360) - Nov. 9th
Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) - Nov. 12th
Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii) - Dec. 3rd
These are potential games to get based on reviews or word of mouth.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (360)
God of War: Chains of Olympus (PSP) - Nov.
Mass Effect (360) - TBA 2007
Scene It? Lights, Camera, Action (360) - Holiday
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction (360) - Nov. 16th
That is basically my list.
Is it just me or does the new Zelda DS game look really lackluster?
1) BioShock
2) Halo 3
3) Half Life 2 Orange Box
4) Grand Theft Auto 4
5) Mass Effect
6) Call of Duty 4
That should keep me busy.
Seriously. It's huge in the Euro area...
