A lot of you probably already have seen this but in case you haven't this is why you get a DS over a PSP lol.

I was talking to a mom Friday at my work about the DS and the PSP. It got me thinking The DS has been better used as what it is, a largely 2D powerhouse with some really cool innovations. The PSP, on the other hand, has been treated like a mini console, gets BAD ports, and the spinning disc = quick battery death. The disc and the from all accounts poor control stick have really hindered what could've been an interesting alternative. I think when the smoke clears the PSP will likely be more used as a portable media player(still the only mp3 player that can directly download a podcast) with emulation, as opposed to the DS which will probably be remembered as the first really big step in portable gaming since the advent of color

uhhh... What? I mean, I like VGCats, and keep up with it, but how is this "Why to get a DS over a PSP" instead of a joke about the PSP's lack of games outside of emulated ones?

Pretty much that is a large part of it. If your going to get a portable device for media the PSP is pretty good in the fact that it has wifi that is actually useful. But really in the end if you add the prices of a PSP compared to an i-pod or a regular mp3 player a 30 gig i-pod ends up becoming more profitable in the end.
  • The emulation on the DS side isn't that bad. You do need specialist kit but its cheap enough and takes nothing to install.

When you say emulation do you mean just with games or is there an mp3/media emulator that can be added?

Mp3's, pictures, IM clients, OS' (Windows), and fuck loads of games can all be added.

[Duly noted but the above was an honest opinion and shouldn't require deletion]

  • I browse the internet, watch TV, organize my calender, keep bus schedules and maps, listen to podcasts, and even play games on my DS. It's all in my pocket.

I don't consider Emulation capabilities when I pick up a handheld... I do all of the above that CosmicEnema mentioned on my PSP as well...

  • I remember that comic. I think the last panel with the PSP starting to get teary-eye is priceless. XD

If I had wi-fi at work, I'd be all over the internet browser on my DS, unfortunately the government does not believe in wi-fi, nor should they have any reason at the moment.
