Writing an article on useful back to school gadgets, ideas would help

edited August 2007 in Technology
I've been putting off this column I needed to write for my college paper due pretty much tomorrow. I have about 150 words down out of...eh, 500. I need ideas, lend me your brains. I feel I need to get my ideas from someplace in addition to Thinkgeek.

  • You're having troubles writing five hundred words about gadgets? What kind of a geek are you?
    • iPods
    • Fancy cool calculators
    • Laptops (duh)
    • Pen light
    • USB Powered Missle launched (it helps me at work at least)
    • Wiki!
  • Uhm... could you explain a bit more of this paper?
  • Don't forget the cell phone

    Don't forget the cell phone

Your assignment for the weekend: write 500 words about improper uses of cell phone cameras in a school setting. Extra credit points will be awarded if bathrooms are not mentioned.

  • I need specifics! My middle school brain can't work without specifics!

    Flash drives? (almost not related!)
  • Is this some sort of joke? Some of the posts on this forum surpass 500 posts with almost no thought behind them!

I'm trying to be nice about this but seriously. I haven't been scared by five hundred words if over a decade. I remember those days but they are vague, childish nightmares of times long past.

I could probably write just 500 words on the proper use of cell phone cameras when entering the "exam sharing" business.
  • I just checked and the agenda I sent out for the meeting I'm about to dial into is 2,163 words.

The majority of which would probably be yours...
  • I guess I should have provided the angle I'm going with this. Not necessarily computer picks or anything. Just like little gadgets, like the Power Squid, stuff like that, that can make a dormroom that much more pleasant, or make papers easier, stuff like that. That, and if I source all my finds to thinkgeek, my editor won't like me. :-)

Best gadget combo ever: Pen, pencil, rubber, paper, ruler, hole punch, ring binder.

  • I managed to flesh out the article to 550 words, and it'll be in the Monday issue. Yay.

Will do, when it's on the website. I mean I could post the raw text, but I'd rather not. :-)

    What the . . .

I tried to resist, but I've had all I can stands and I can't stands no more. When I was in the dorms, we couldn't have a hot plate!

You take your goddamned Power Squid and shove it up your editor's ass. Then kick him in the ass. Then say, "The mere fact that we can have any devices at all is a miracle. How do you like those words, you bastard?"
