  • From the Metroid I have played so far I can say only this. The Wiimote and nunchuk is a vastly superior configuration compared to dual analog sticks. However, it still feels limited compared to the mouse. While the wiimote allows me to precisely and quickly aim at any object currently on screen while simultaneously moving, it still does not allow for quickly turning around 180 degrees or anything like that.
What sensitivity setting do you play on?
  • I can't imagine the Wii being better than analog controls. Needing to point my cursor to the edge of the screen to turn is fucking retarded. I really think Scott underestimates the usability of dual-stick controls entirely...

No wonder you hate them, Apreche, you had a GAMECUBE. Worst right stick ever.

You don't have to. That's what the nunchuk is for.
  • Shouldn't it be for strafing?! Wow...

It does have multiple buttons. Remember how the Z button targeted in Zelda and allowed you to move around while maintaining a target lock?
  • I would have thought that the Wiimote would lend itself to better control, or at least a more realistic control, especially with the Wii Zapper accessory. This brings up a new question: if such a device existed, in a real world situation, would you prefer to use a mouse to control your aim (see picture) or hold the gun the old-fashioned way, with your own hands?

P.S. Please forgive my horrible drawing skills; they've been like that since the 2nd grade.

We've played non-GC stick games.  They weren't much better.  It's just a different kind of gaming, where the games are designed to not require precise and wide-ranging view control.

    Huh?
  • MitchyD, have you PLAYED MP:3 yet?
  • I play on the highest possible sensitivity setting. It still isn't sensitive enough. If there was a button to do a 180, that might help, however for Metroid I'm already using as many buttons as I would care to. I can't imagine adding more buttons while keeping it uncomplicated. And while an instant 180 button helps, it's still not as good as a mouse. With a mouse I can do an instant 180, but also an instant 160, 100, 138, etc.
  • I've not, but I'm gonna rent it today. I REALLY hope it changes my mind.

Also, I'm buying mad Wii Points, as I'm gonna buy both Metroid games, both Zelda games because I've never played them enough to say "I've played them".
