Problem with Wine and Half-life

edited September 2007 in Technology
After just buying HL1 I wanted to install it via Wine. When I go through the terminal to the CD (/media/cdrom0) and type "wine setup.exe" it starts and I press next once and at that moment an error box pops up saying "Can't execute the external program *the path of where Steam is installed*". After trying to install the other .exe files on the CD as was suggested on some other forum the following happens:

kiwi@kiwi-laptop:/media/cdrom0$ wine instmsi.exe
kiwi@kiwi-laptop:/media/cdrom0$

Then I was thinking of adding the game to Steam via the "Add a game function" where you just have to type in the product key. But when it asks you to agree to the terms of service Steam/Wine freezes and I can't press on "Agree" or scroll down.

Any Ideas?

P.S. I do remember Scott saying if something doesn't work in Wine don't even try.
