    At the risk of sounding like a super nerd, they incorrectly believe that increasing the redline from 6200 rpms to 7000 rpms is less stressful than increasing the hp output from 250 hp to 500 hp. What they don't understand is that tensile rod stress at TDC is by far the greatest stress in a piston engine at race speeds. The stress on the rod bolts are 7000 rpms is 25%+ larger than at 6200 rpms, a maximum stress of 3200 G! Yes, 3200 times the acceleration of gravity. Or if you have a 1 kilogram piston and connecting rod combo, about 7000 lbs.

    So, here are the formula's, it's all calculus. I'm just using a calculator setup to calculate piston acceleration, but it's kinda like bringing a RPG to a knife fight.
