I mostly use Mininova these days. If I can't find it there I usually check Isohunt. I used to use torrentspy but that is basically a porn site now so don't go there.
As for what I use, The Pirate Bay and Scrapetorrent.com. Scrapetorrent is also a meta-search engine, unlike TPB, Mininova, etc, who are all just normal search engines. Jain7th, have they fixed the slowness at Youtorrent? I tried it when it came out, but damn was it slow.
I have some questions about optimal use of a BitTorrent client, if you guys wouldn't mind telling me how to learn things. I am currently not as technologically literate as I would like to be (also, I live in fear of trying to mess around with my computer doing something I'm not sure how to do and breaking something), and I don't think I really understand how to properly use port-forwarding and anything else that will help with BitTorrent. Is there a good place where I can learn about this
It all depends on your internet connection. For port forwarding you should follow the instructions on portforward.com. It is a bit confusing at first, but all you have to do is select your router, your bittorrent client (or just any bittorrent client guide like the one for Azureus) and do what it says. As for the maximum number of connections, number of connections/torrent, and all those connection based settings, there is a guide for that somewhere. Don't know where though, I'll try to find it.
And it's hard to break a computer even with a little computer knowledge, just keep using your brains and be careful when exploring.
Well, I hadn't looked at TPB for a while. Then I tried to look at it last night, and got a 404 Page Not Found Error. Then I looked at this, which said
Swedish prosecutors had announced that charges would be filed before the end of January 2008 against five individuals concerned and eventually, on January 31, 2008, they filed charges against four of the individuals behind The Pirate Bay.
Is it still 404'ing? The site's working, so that can't be it. And besides, the servers are out of reach. The Pirate Bay, from what I know, has spread its servers. So yeah, even in the worst case The Pirate Bay won't go down. You could read up on Torrentfreak.com for more info. I skim those articles whenever they get in my Google Reader.
