Woo Hoo!! I bought my computer upgrade!

edited October 2007 in Technology
I just bought components to upgrade my computer from newegg.com:

CPU AMD|A64 X2 5200+ 2.6G AM2 2M R $123.99
VGA EVGA 512-P2-N757-TR 8600GT 512M $149.99
PSU ROSEWILL|RP550-2 RETAIL $59.99
MEM 1Gx2|PATRIOT 240P PDC22G6400LLK $91.99
CPUCOOLER|ARCTIC P4|ACFZ7-PRO R $19.99
HD 250G|ST 7K 16M SATA2 ST3250410AS $69.99
MB GIGABYTE GA-M61P-S3 GF6100 AM2 $74.99

With shipping and handling it all came to $606

I tried to get the most bang for my buck. How do you guys think I did?

My old computer was a P4 2.8 gig, Geforce 6800 graphics card, 1 dual ram, 80 gig hard drive, 400 w generic power supply.

  • That's a pretty awesome rig for $600.
  • The cooler is a waste of money. The heatsink that comes with the CPU is just fine.

If I want to overclock it, do I want to get a different fan other than the stock? Is there a better cooler than the one I ordered that would be more suitable for overclocking, or is it not really worth it to upgrade any fan (A fan's a fan)?

I've never had a problem with the cooling abilities of stock heatsinks but sometimes they're kind of loud.

    Don't overclock.
