What's your favorite gaming snack?

  • Koala's March - is that the chocolate or strawberry filled Koalas? o.O
  • Only the chocolate ones taste good.
  • I agree. But then again, I'm extremely biased because I hate strawberry.
  • Only the chocolate ones taste good.
Super agreed and actually that goes for 90% of snacks.
  • Hard Tack and Salt Pork. Maybe some Sloosh.
  • The so-called low-carb diet is extremely dangerous. I'm not even joking. Do not do it without a doctor's supervision. The only diet that really works without danger is eat less, exercise more.
This is true I've lost 50lbs in the last 6 months. Depending on how low carb. I'm eating about 1,500 calories a day, over five meals. keeps me from getting hungry and works great.

The only thing I've ever liked to eat while gaming is Twizzlers, or Red Vines. Mmmm I've not had either in months. Can't abide sticky controllers.
  • I don't really snack while I game. I game in bursts, a couple hours at a time, and then I stop for a few and eat something. Of course, a glass of sweet tea is always by my side. That's a given.

So, I've been wondering for a long time, does Splenda really kill you/give you cancer? I've heard you guys mention it before on the show briefly, but other than that, nothing. I've read some different things online, but you never know what's a hoax and what's not, so it can be hard to tell. Also, isn't it Aspartame (artificial sweetener of some sort) that's supposed to do that? Splenda doesn't contain Aspartame as far as I know. I heard that it eats away at the fat in your brain, therefore making it harder for it to transmit signals, and can cause symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis.

Anyway, I'd love to know this, because I definitely try to stay away from Splenda/Aspartame as much as I can, just for lack of really knowing.
  • Sucralose( Splenda ), and Aspartame are not really more or less dangerous than anything else. Trans fat is definitely far worse for you then either of these. Then again, like almost any chemical, there are studies linking them to things like migraines, cancer, etc. Google for some studies and see what there is to see.
  • Tomato Pretz, hands down. I have no idea why they named this flavor "Tomato", as it tastes nothing like tomatoes. It's made by the same company that makes Pocky.

The problem with Aspartame is what it turns into once it enters your digestive track. Poision... The problems with trans fats are that they can't be broken down by your body. The chemical bonds just can't be split with our enzymes. So it's like one extra huge molecule that will never leave your system.

I think people should just be a bit more carb smart in their diets. More carbs mid day so you can burn it off. Less pasta and bread a night before you go to sleep. Low carb works because protein is a less effective fuel source for your body. It's like comparing coal to rocket fuel. We need protein in out diets especially if you're working out, but we shouldn't use it as a primary fuel source. It's much less effective and produces a lot of extra wastes. That's why if you're on a no carb you really need to talk to a nutritionist AND a Dr. and drink tons of water to flush out your system. Soda maybe tasty but not so good for you. Am_dragon is doing the right thing by eating small meals more often so your metabolism stays up through out the day. You don't get so hungry and you burn more energy. So even if you ate some carbs your system would burn it off.

  • When I game, I tend to eat/drink uncontrollably, so I tend to just leave a few bottles of water nearby. Sure, I have to go to the bathroom a lot, but at least I ain't bulkin' up.

Mhm, ditto. Unless I'm incredibly into what I'm doing my appetite yells at me like all get out. I've usually got water or iced tea with me when I'm gaming or crawling around the internet. Hey, they say you should piss clear and often anyway.
  • Sprite and Club Crackers make my gaming, interneting, and DVDing experiences much more fun.

Fox's Glacier Fruits or anything else that requires a relatively short time to get into my mouth. Going to my friend Paul's house for new years and we're going to play video games into the new year (the first Katamari victory of the season shall be mine!!) and I'm gunna try playing with a tub of Senben to keep me company.

  • When I game with my friends (read: Role Playing) we generally snack on chips and salsa. Sometimes we bring in some candy as well, and the GM likes to throw 'fun-size' snacks at folks for playing well. We generally drink water or juice when we game. I'm not sure if its because it's healthier or just tastes better. I'm going with tastes better. We still get pizza or Chinese delivery most of the time because we don't have to break to cook.
When I game by myself (read: video games) I like pita chips and hummus with red pepper or garlic. Once again, I go with juice or water to drink.

I could NEVER remember if it was supposed to be clearer or ...yellower? All I know is that it's not supposed to be red, green, or tye-dye. *shrugs*

When I went a couple times to my friend's D&D; group (to watch), they would make a sort-of potluck. There was something like 5 of them, so two would bring half of the dinner each (usually decided before hand). They would eat most of it before then take the rest down with them.
Ah, the wonders of a female D&D; group. XD

    *Jealously* LOL
  • @Kage: pee gets yellower as you get more dehydrated. Clear pee it optimal.

Anyways, I usually don't have much to eat when I'm gaming, though I do like to chew on something when I concentrate. This has led to a bad habit in computer games which don't use the keyboard much, and I will actually unconsciously chew on my left index finger while playing. The best snacks are, of course, Cheetos and Triscuits.

I wasn't part of it though. >>; Just watched. They had fancy-smancy dinners though. Some weird taco salad with weird snacks... *Shrugs* Not my bag, but it would be awesome if it was stuff more..normal.
  • Are you kidding me? There's only once choice....

Chicken in a Biscuit and cheese whiz.

    /thread.

  • Chicken in a Biscuit and cheese whiz.
