How do you get floppy disk backups on to CDs?

edited January 2008 in Technology
My mom is trying to get me to move my computer back upstairs (for a little while, she says) because my computer is the onlyo one with a floppy drive. I don't want to move it at all; my legs are really weak right now, and I doubt carrying a monitor that is bigger and heavier than most toddlers would be a good idea. Plus, it's entrenched in my room. There is no way to get it out without killing myself or someone else or the computer. I could, if I cleaned up a lot, but I'm uber sick. Plus, I do not want my brother to touch my computer. I don't trust him.

I can do some computer stuff easily; it's not much energy. So, is there a way to get those damned backups to CDs?

  • Take the files from the floppy disks, copy them to your hard drive. Then take the files and burn them to CD. It's pretty straightforward.

Another solution is to take the floppy drive out of the computer and put it in the other one.
  • If you have the money USB floppy drives are quite cheap.

    ? eh?

And yes, I thought it seemed simple to me, but my mom was saying that I needed my brother to do it because there's something 'special' you have to do... >>; I was just making sure before I screw up...

Thanks Omnu. =3 I'll look into those.
