the only thing I've ever broken was a GBC and all I did was break the LCD. I had a replacement that I had ordered but I never got arround to fixing it and then lost both pieces. The actuall system I think was stolen out of my moms car. But my PSX, my SNES and my (used) N64 still work perfectly
SNES lost its video output around 2005, PS2's controller ports started to fail, Gamecube broke while playing Metroid Prime, and my Wii decided to eat a Gamecube game. My 360 never red-ringed, but I mostly use it as the loudest dvd player in the universe.
My PSP, I'm on my third. My first one's battery wouldn't charge, the second one's WiFi quit working. I'm just glad I got the EBGames insurance. If only the DS could play podcasts...

One think I've learned from this generation is that the next time around I will be spending the extra money on a warranty whenever I buy a console.
I dropped my first DS, which had already suffered much abuse, causing the lower screen to shatter. It's now a large GBA. Happily, it was then just an excuse to buy a DS Lite.

The products are covered by warranties already. You rarely need "extended" coverage.

I'm talking about one of those deals where you can bring the console back to the store if it breaks for instant replacement within a given period and not have to send it back to the manufacturer. Do such warranties exist? - I don't know, but I hope!

Just mail it back to the manufacturer. It's much cheaper.

Been there, done that. My Xbox 360 took 6-8 weeks to come back and my PS3 4 weeks. I'd much rather just bring it back to the store and get an instant replacement and I'd be willing to pay extra for a warranty that would give me that option.
Yes but it wasn't my fault. My older sister poured bleach and cleaners in it when she destroyed my room a few years back. The other was an accident with a PSone but it was fixable with some CD player parts.

My other systems are just peachy.
