Which video game consoles have you owned that broke?

  • the only thing I've ever broken was a GBC and all I did was break the LCD. I had a replacement that I had ordered but I never got arround to fixing it and then lost both pieces. The actuall system I think was stolen out of my moms car. But my PSX, my SNES and my (used) N64 still work perfectly
  • SNES lost its video output around 2005, PS2's controller ports started to fail, Gamecube broke while playing Metroid Prime, and my Wii decided to eat a Gamecube game. My 360 never red-ringed, but I mostly use it as the loudest dvd player in the universe.

    Atari 2600

My other systems are just peachy.

  • My PSP, I'm on my third. My first one's battery wouldn't charge, the second one's WiFi quit working. I'm just glad I got the EBGames insurance. If only the DS could play podcasts...

One think I've learned from this generation is that the next time around I will be spending the extra money on a warranty whenever I buy a console.
  • I dropped my first DS, which had already suffered much abuse, causing the lower screen to shatter. It's now a large GBA. Happily, it was then just an excuse to buy a DS Lite.

The products are covered by warranties already. You rarely need "extended" coverage.

I still think you broke it partially on purpose.

God no. It worked perfectly fine. If I'd wanted a DS Lite that badly, I would have just bought one and given the DS Phat away.

I'm talking about one of those deals where you can bring the console back to the store if it breaks for instant replacement within a given period and not have to send it back to the manufacturer. Do such warranties exist? - I don't know, but I hope!

Just mail it back to the manufacturer. It's much cheaper.
  • My Rock Band dvd is broken, and apparently I have to pay EA $20 to replace it.

Been there, done that. My Xbox 360 took 6-8 weeks to come back and my PS3 4 weeks. I'd much rather just bring it back to the store and get an instant replacement and I'd be willing to pay extra for a warranty that would give me that option.

My ps2 broke while lending my game to my friend next door, he spilled coke right into the ps2, last time he got to use my stuff.

  • My ps2 game RAD (Robot Alchemic Drive) Too bad it was a really good game.
Was that the game where you controlled the character outside of the robot?
  • Yes but it wasn't my fault. My older sister poured bleach and cleaners in it when she destroyed my room a few years back. The other was an accident with a PSone but it was fixable with some CD player parts.
Your sister sounds like a fucking monster
