VMware is all the rage right now and I am slowly getting my aged brain around all it's potential to the hobbyist. It looks like both the Windows and Linux versions sell for $189. I'm about to turn my Ubuntu box into a file server, so it would be cool if I could recreate it in a window on my main computer. However, for $189 I could build another computer and run Linux on that. Then again, if I can run OSX in VMware on a Windows box, that would be enough for me to buy VMware because I could then use Garage band more easily.
I know you can run Ubuntu in a VMware window on Windows. Can you run OSX too?
What are some other reasons why a hobbyist should buy VMware?
