So Ebay is trumpeting the fact that they have lowered their fees.
Really? How great is this:
The insertion fee for most auctions (starting price up to $25) has been lowered by a grand total of 5 cents.
However, they've increased the fee charged at the close of the auction from 5.25% of the first $25 to 8.5%. After that, the fee increased by 0.25% until $1,000 where it remains the same as before.
So if your item sells for $25, you have to pay 81 cents more.
Wow.... thanks for dropping the listing fee by 5 cents!
They have also done away with the gallery fee, but that was only 35 cents, and was optional.
Sounds to me like Ebay is about to make a shit-ton more money. No wonder why so many merchants are defecting to Amazon.
Let's face it. Ebay is pretty much a monopoly. It would be nice if someday they had some real competition, but I'm not holding my breath.
And let's not forget that Ebay owns Paypal, so they also get the fees that Paypal charges.
