I'm torrenting spore as we speak. I am but a broke college student, but as soon as I can, I'll seriously buy a real copy.

(Also, if you're wondering why I'm getting it now, as opposed to on the 7th, it seems an Australian game store released a copy early, and a cracking group uploaded it promptly.)

Edit: This is the story from Kotaku, if you care.

  • I'm installing it as I type(from a legitimate copy, not like the above "person"). Impressions to follow soon.

I'm currently starting with my legal version of Spore running on my Mac (Cider, but I'm using the same retail version as my brother on his PC!)

So far it has a nice music and connects a bunch of times to EA over the internet.

Edit: Wow, it's really fun to swim around, eat and evolve.

  • Yes, the game is fun, played it last night, if they remove or lessen the DRM, I'll buy a copy when available down here.

Have you ever wondered why they put the DRM there in the first place? It's because dumbfucks like you pirate the games. Fail.
  • Lol, I buy my stuffs from steam or Amazon when they are worth it (adding that I have to pay about an extra 60% in importation tax), almost every time after playing a pirated copy, I played WOW on the official server for a few months (so yeah, I'm dumb on that account), I buy my DS games (don't use the sim cards), I buy my movies or go to the theater (I do download some that are either hard to find or just again, not worth it), I buy my comics and manga.

Now I ask you, have you pirated something in your life? a song? a movie? a game? a book? your OS? watched something copyrighted on youtube? if so, be so kind as to shut the fuck up, if not, then you my friend are a saint.
  • DRM isn't there fore pirates. They know they can't stop people from doing the torrents, and they can't stop real bootleggers. The reason they have DRM is for people who pirate without realizing it. Remember back in the day one person would have a copy of Wolfenstein on floppies, and they would copy the disk for everybody else? I played a pirated copy of Wolfenstein 3D in my dad's office back in the day, and nobody thought of it as piracy. The DRM stops the normal people from buying one copy of a game and installing it on their computer, and their mom's computer, and their friend's computer, and the neighbor's computer, etc. without buying extra copies. The DRM pops up and lets them know they are pirating, which they didn't realize, and they go buy an extra copy.

I'm going to start another thread to continue this tangent.
