Geeknights opener for startup sound?

  • Anyone? I'm still searching for it.

I've started trying to figure out which episodes have slightly different endings so I can cut the little tiny sections where neither Scott nor Rym are talking to edit it together and normalize it.

If.. theres.. a .. chance.. anyone wants to help me out with this (doubt it), let me know.
They will never tell anyone where those are from...

Um...didn't Rym tell us in an episode of the podcast what the closing music is from? Or was that at a party? I forget. Maybe it was in the podcast...If you just listen to every single episode in the archive, you'll have it!

  • It's the bowser music from Mario RPG, some OCRemix thereof.
  • That's the intro music.
  • I have heard every episode in the archive.

Well, minus a few in the Wednesday.

Driving to West Virginia every month for work from Ohio necessitates good podcasts to stay awake.
  • Hello again. I'm sorry to re-open this but I still check it periodically. I was just wondering if any there are any new potential leads for my question. I'm still trying desperately to figure out what the damn song in the credits is. Maybe some newer forum members who have never seen this thread know? ;-)

I sure hope I figure this out some day. For now I guess I'll go rip some sprites of some pixel meat for Scott's tumbler that I discovered recently.
  • Have you attempted to email DJpretzel about it? He might have a copy of it.
  • Nah, the opener is DJPretzel's "Booster Tarantino." That's a piss-take to find and get; it's on OCPRemix and is actually a pretty good song!

This guy wants the closer music (and presumably the TOTD music), but Scrym keep it a secret. I'm not sure why it matters, though; the closer and TOTD music suck.
  • The only reason to keep the closer and TotD music a secret is because they are crazy obscure. It's a test. If anyone knows what they are, then OMG that person is amazing. It's just a nerd detection device.

I get that, I meant that I'm not sure why it matters so much to this guy that he has the songs. They work as transition music, but I wouldn't want to sit and listen to them.
  • For the same reason we're all still trying to find the beta versions of GeekNights. Simple, raw curiosity, combined with the desire to prove we can.

Just checked. They are still up there. The first two episodes plus five earlier beta episodes from October 2005.
  • Argh. You just have to tease me with that, don't you.
  • I found a weird rit forum from the 90's while looking for beta geeknights. http://www.csh.rit.edu/~tonyl/discus/messages/board-topics.html

I listened to two of them last week for shits and giggles. (Happened to bump into them when I was backing up the NAS). Damn son.

    CSH = fail.

The forum you would need to find is the Planet Zebes forum. I think the url might have been something like protoman.rh.rit.edu/something/index.php. Thing is, that forum doesn't exist anymore except for maybe a database backup I have somewhere.

Those guys are weird. They have some really cool projects, and they've put out some awesome alums like John Resig (jQuery guy), but seriously, some of those guys are weird

So the episodes are effectively impossible to find. I checked and not even wayback has the old forum. It does have your audioblog though. http://web.archive.org/web/20050309193242/http://protoman.rh.rit.edu/~apreche/audioblogs/audiobloggin.ogg
