Monster cable may have picked a fight with the wrong guy

edited April 2008 in Technology
Monster cable issued a C&D to one Blue Jeans Cable accusing them of infringing 5 design patents:

Monster sues Blue Jeans Cable

...but it seems Blue Jeans Cable is run by a former attorney, and his response is epic:

Blue Jeans strikes back

He gave Monster fourteen days to respond; hopefully we'll hear more about this.

  • I have one thing to say about this. Bwahahahahahahahaha! Finally, a lawyer that shares my pet peeve.
  • I will follow this to it's bitter, wonderful conclusion. Hell, I'll even try to interview the good guy.
  • There is an interview with this guy, posted today, that I've just started reading:
    Kurt Denke Interview
  • I can't wait to see what happens. I really hope that someone at Monster gets hot-headed over the little guy fighting back, and they actually proceed to court. Someone's going to get wrecked, and I don't think it's Kurt Denke.
  • I buy my HDMI cables from Hong Kong for about $1 or $2 on ebay and they work perfectly.
  • Excellent letter. I wish there were more people that would stand up like that.
  • In the interview the guy says it would cost around a thousand dollars just to get the right people to write that letter and that's after you find the right people.

Other than the humorous opening, it is a fairly basic listing of discovery demands in a very casual form. It would not be very costly to generate such a letter.
