Favorite NES soundtracks?

My dirty secret is that I play a lot of forgettable NES games simply because they have good music. :)

Do you guys have any favorites?

A few of mine:

* Dave's theme from Maniac Mansion

* action sequence music for Dash Galaxy in the Alien Asylum

* the title theme to Golgo 13

* the title theme to Bee 52

* Bump n' Jump level 1, if I happen to be in a car

  • Mario Bros.

    Nothing else in particular, really.
  • My favorite Ge-nes-is song was the save/select song from Sonic 3. It was awesome.
  • Probably River City Ransom or Nintendo World Cup.
  • Most of Kirby's Adventure and almost all the Megaman music, especially the widely-beloved Skull Castle 1 stage from Megaman 2.

NSF files are amazing for when you wanna get your NES music nostalgia on without having to play to get to the songs you want.

That would be composer Kazuo Sawa. ^^ I like most of his 8-bit stuff, although a lot of it seems to have been in Japan-only releases.

I'd forgotten about NSFs. ^^ I like to know what stage a tune is from usually. That said, NSFs are indeed quite awesome, especially since I suck at video games enough that some of those tunes I'd never hear otherwise. ^^; They're also good for finding new games to try. I put Zanac, Guardian Legend, and Gyruss on my find list based entirely on their soundtracks.
