Tettix(formerly Cicada) downloads

edited June 2008 in Technology
Hey I'm catching up in episodes of GeekNights when I heard Scott mention Cicada, how its like game music without the game. He was right, so I've downloaded some of his(I think its just him) albums to put on my ipod but I don't know how to make the music appear on itunes.

  • what do you mean?

If it's getting the music in your library, just drag 'n' drop the mp3 files into your iTunes window. If it's the store, he is in there, so you can find him easily.
  • I've tried the drag and drop, it does appear, but it soon gives me the little exclamation mark saying 'it cannot be located' so I assume there is a specific folder where to put the music.

I have found a different but suitable solution where I convert the mp3 to AAC, there may be better ways but this works.

My original post was a hasty and wasn't well researched, I realize.

From what I gather, you want to have the music you have on your iPod show up in iTunes? Eh, connect the iPod? It should pop up then. If you also have the songs stored somewhere else on your HD, just add that folder to the library. Somewhere under import I guess.
  • No, no, no,
Downloaded the files, they appeared as zip files on my desktop, I did the drag and drop, they appeared on itunes for about half an hour then itunes gave me the cannot locate sign, I did the same thing again except this time I converted the type of file when itunes knew where it was, so then it places its own copy of the music where it would be able to find it

Its fine now, I've got them in a consistent area
  • Wait, WHAT?! Did you extract the files before you drag'n'dropped them in iTunes? Also, converting the files to aac is useless, iTunes can read mp3 files perfectly fine, converting the files should make no [bleep]g difference concerning your problem. Advice for next time, check the "File" drop down menu. There are two (2) options there for adding files to your iTunes library. Add File(s) and Add Folder(s).

Also, the period key is to the right of the comma key. Okay? You can use it, shortening that single gigantic multi-line sentence of you, okay? And perhaps reread what you are trying to post. You're connecting completely different sentences with comma's and leaving huge gaps for us to fill up with our imagination. As I said in my first sentence, have you extracted those zip archives before you dragged them to iTunes? Or did you perhaps just drag the zip archives into iTunes? Or perhaps opened the zip archives and dragged the mp3 files from within those zip archives directly into iTunes?

Reread what you want to post people, reread.

You have offended my honor, I challenge you to a gentlemen's duel. Since you are the offender you may chose the time, place, and weapon. Despite the fact that your method worked.

Bugger. I have talked about this issue with some trustworthy, some not trustworthy and some untrustworthy folks on the plane of IRC. Along side some crazy ideas I got "Never, nowhere, nothing.", which, if you ask me, provides one with a smile at the least. Then I thought, why the hell not do something that's plausible. This Saturday, one minute past midnight, in the middle of the volcano on the Caldera sea island in Purgatorio with dual Walker Colts. Not being present on time, at the correct spot or with the correct equipment results in forfeiture and victory for the other party. You have 3 hours and 49 minutes left.

Silliness aside, good to know you got it working now.

One of these days you might get an eccentric billionaire who actually takes up an offer like that. But yeah, thanks for the tip and trick.
