I've been looking for good, older games lately. My comp is quite old, but can play HL2 well enough. Any genre goes, really, but I'd like more non-obvious answers, so get those games a bit more off the mainstream, please.
I used to play alot of those DOS games, because my first computer had a 64 MHz processor. I remember getting that around 98 or so. My brother gave me Quake and a CD full of abandonware games.
Hey, anyone up for a game ofYuri's Revenge(FTWDK: ARed Alert 2expansion pack)? We'll probably need to use Hamachi but it should be playable.
Sure, I'd love too. The main problem is that I live on the west coast... OF EUROPE! I also can't find my Yuri's Revenge CD (it might pop-up somewhere (I did find my RA2)) and I'm not even that good at Red Alert 2.
I live in England, should be ok. You can get Yuri's revenge cheap or off bittorent. Wednesday night, say, 8PM GMT alright? Maybe get some Skype action on.
I will create a Geeknights Europe Hamachi network sometime soon; Americans are free to join but timezones can be a bitch. Edit: Created, Name:"Geeknights Europe" Pass:"mrperiod"
Wow....No mention of Civ?? If your PC can't run Civ 4, run Civ 3. (And there's a good chance that if it'll run HL2, it'll run Civ 4. Maybe not well, though.)
I'll second Grim Fandango, big-time. The Monkey Island games are also excellent. The Indiana Jones adventure games that Lucasarts put out don't get a lot of mention, but I also enjoyed them a great deal. The recent Sam & Max adventure games put out by Telltale (and also on GameTap, I believe) are quite good and don't have high requirements. One more off-beat (and a little twisted) adventure game recommendation: Sanitarium.
Yeah, I miss the good ol' days of computer adventure games....

Civ is still a current game, doesn't exactly fit in this thread. There is a box set you can buy that has all the Civ games (1 through 4) and the Civ card game.

I'm not sure if I'll make it. Give me some more time to figure this out (like an hour or so if possible). I'll try to do this as fast as I can.
Edit: it says that the "Geeknights Europe" network does not exist.
As someone else with an older PC (Read piece of shit), I can recommened the following: Morrowind. (This game has eaten hours of my life) GTA III and Vice City (If your PC runs HL2 okay, these should be fine) Deus Ex (But for the love of Darwin, avoid the sequel like the plague) Fallout 1 & 2 Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic 1 & 2 Freelancer Planescape: Torment Call Of Duty 1

Grim Fandango
Battlezone 1+2
Beneath a Steel Sky & Indiana Jones FOA (free to download)
GTA 1 + 2 also free
Open Steam and browse
Zork isn't bad if you like antique games.
One other option is to get some emulators (PSX, N64, SNES etc).
Also:
Regardless...my suggestions:
- Starcraft
- emulators
- not much else, since I'm really not a PC gamer....oh well.
Mario Kart64. Good game if you just wanna chill out.
I have fond memories of Mario Kart 64 was a Xbox 360 controller.
Edit: Wow, the CD has Windows 1, 2, and 3.11.
I'll also second Day of the Tentacle.
I do want to try anyway.
