Action Quake II

edited July 2008 in Video Games
DSAQ_setup.exe
DSAQ_setup.exe This is Action quake II. I hear some people around here play this game. I think we should get a nice sized game together.

This is a stand alone thing, so you can just download and play, but the file's kinda big cause I'm an idiot. I'll try to get a smaller one in a week, but I could get it sooner if people really want one smaller. I don't know how small I could really get it tho, cause we have quite a bit of content in our pack.

Comments

  • I'm downloading it right now as I type. Also, I've got UT2004 and Halo PC if anyone wants to play.
  • UT is awesome. But now is Action Quake time!

are you sonic is UT also? I'll add you to my buddeh list.

So why link to a download? If people are already playing, no need for such a horrible filefront link to some shady version of a game you and your friends compiled.
    are
Capitalize the first word of all your sentences please.
    buddeh
The correct spelling is 'buddy', no need to use your street speech on the internet, only makes you look like an idiot.
    tho
It's spelled 'though'. Again, the Queen's English is enough, no need for street talk to be used on the internet.
    cause I'm an idiot.
    At least we've settled that.

I've just redone my harddrive so I'm not sure what my nickname is, but i'm pretty sure its either Ensane Affliction or Ensanity.

I assumed it was lolcat speak, thus LCom is using internet speak on the internet. If it was originally some obscure American dialect I apologise. I am not from there.

Mind you I'm not contending the idiocy.

Its a rarely used dialect called CB (as in CB Radio). Here's an example:

Breaker One Nine, Breaker One Nine. This is Blue Blaze 'tween the two tractors goin down 95. I got a smokey on my tail who was perchin a trap, can you gimmie a hand?
Pardon me for using channel 19 (usually reserved for truckers). This is Blue Blaze (my callsign) between the two Tractor Trailors going down Route 95. I'm being chased by a Police cruiser who was manning a speed trap, can you help dodge him?

This is Big Al to Blue Blaze, No problem good buddeh.
This is Big Al to Blue Blaze, Not a problem good sir.

Ahahaha! Brilliant! That's amazing and cute at the same time.

I appreciate your wanting to keep standards around here, and if I make spelling/grammatical mistakes it's because I'm horrible with words (and express myself much more clearly thru images more often then not).

I figured I would post a link for this game because I find the stand alone versions are surprisingly hard to find, and easy access would attract even more people from the ones who already play it. Not assuredly, but possibly.

And no one is completely free from idiocy. If you can't admit to your own idiotic transgressions from time to time, it's just gonna make your ego grow bigger then it needs to be.

    Haha, thank you Sonic!

  • A wonderful reply dear chap, safe for the atrocious 'thru' it is readable, understandable and able to make me smile. Welcome to the forums, go check out the Tribes 2 episode of Geeknights and the accompanying forum topic here. We need more intelligent opponents, bashing in heads of bots gets boring after a while.

Heh, I'm happy to use my CB talk outside of my car whenever I can. That conversation is based on a real time when my dad was being chased by a cop. I'll share the story sometime if anyone wants to hear about it.

  • So anyhow, is this legit.. because I could play some action quake II again...
  • I believe the Quake II engine has been open sourced, so if the mod and the maps for the mod were released free and clear, then it's cool.
  • OMG.. the memories.. We gotta get a Action quake round up

Yes, the mod is free and the engine is open source now. There are a few AQ2 clients that have been released (Axion Quake "License to Kill; the Borg Matrix" (if my memory serves me) are the two I managed to track down with some effort.) What I put up here is actually the mod with the Quake 2 client, but I've removed the maps and some models, making the Original Q2 unplayable with this. I believe this makes it alright to put up, but if I'm wrong someone correct me and I'll take it down (and put up a version with one of the stand alone clients).
