    I don't think I can pick a favourite artist in any medium, but the first awesome artist that pops into my head is H.R. Giger, the guy who did the creature designs for Alien. I'm not normally one for uber-gothic artwork, but his work is absolutely stunning, even when it's grotesque. He also does design work for cool furniture and jewelry now, apparently.
