Words You Always Misspell

edited August 2008 in Everything Else
See title. My worst one is "rediculous". I type it out of habit, and always have to backtrack and correct myself.

  • My spelling would probably suck if it wasn't for Firefox spellchecker. I know a lot of words but not always how to spell them. Then again, english is not my first language. However, I also got a bad habit in german of capitalizing the first letter of an article rather than the first letter of the noun that follows it.
  • My problem is more of an auto-typo for "German": my fingers insist on "Germna". I also find my fingers adding a 'u' to "behavior" to get "behaviour" , which is only odd since I am an American.
  • Oh god, words I misspell, until is one. My right ring finger always repeats that l when typing until. Separate is another. I tend to type sepera- and then I backspace to fix it. There are other similar words, where it sounds like it's written with letter A while it's actually letter B. I'm pretty much the same as chaosof99:

  • If you're talking about on the computer, my most common misspellings are usually due to hitting the spacebar th ewrong timel ike this or swapping letters around liek this. I just type too fast at times.
  • "Definite" always comes out as "Definate". I have a problem with "Rediculous" too.
  • I always type especially as "expecially".
  • Tommorrow
  • Deposit, I always try to spell it desposit for some reason.
  • Forward. I always forget the first "r".

As for what others have stated, spell check on Firefox is very useful and a lifesaver.
  • Due to rapid typing, I often have the "teh'" inadvertently in my posts.

That should be in a thread "Words you can't type cause your fingers can't keep up with your brain." :P

Agreed, doesn't everyone make spelling errors once in a while when they are typing fast?
  • Unnecessary. I always screw up the N's and S's.

I can't pronounce "rural" to save my life.
  • Off the top of my head:
    Bittorent becomes Bitorrent or Bittorent
Any word that uses random capitalization.
  • Bittorent becomes Bitorrent or Bittorent
Eh... Bittorent is wrong. Torrent is double 'r'. Hence the proper spelling for the company and the protocol is BitTorrent.

    Damn, beat me to it.

The other day my friend he can't spell Coneticut because of Coneticon. I told him that was just had no idea how to spell Connecticut, because Connecticon was just Connecticut with 'cut' removed and 'con' attached.

Oh and how many people pronounce it ko-net-i-cut? Cause if I'm reading it right, it should be ko-nect-i-cut.

I have never known anyone who pronounces the second C, and I've been living in CT for my whole life.
  • Nessisary. (Spelling intentionally left incorrect)
  • Until recently, doubt was one of my most misspelled words.
  • Anywyas, and mastrubation.

I also get lazy and use the informal thou a lot, because it's easier to type "art thou" than "are you".
  • Recommend, tomorrow, necessary, embarrassing.

I spelled embarrassing wrong writing this.
  • Receive. I always accidentally type the "i" first, then immediately backtrack and fix it.
  • Business. I always spell it bussiness.
  • Wednesday...that took me 20 seconds to figure that one out...I hate that word
    its pronounced wensday! Not wed-nes-day.
  • Oh, damn, I forgot about my arch-nemesis, receive.

  • 2:30 is relevant.
  • It used to be "Proably " for me.

I don't misspell things much when I'm typing, but when I'm writing I often accidentally put an extra 's' at the end of words ending in 's' that have two 's' when they become plural. Ex: "gas" becomes "gass"
