I've been playing WoW for years, so I naturally am going to try this, just like I did all of the other MMO's that have come out since.
I haven't played WoW for a few months now, so Warhammer may just sweep in and take itself as my new MMO though. I've really been hoping it's a WoW killer.
We still plan to run our Natural Selection classes. ^_~
If I can get this running on my old PC I'd be up for some Natural Selection action. At the moment it says "Natural Selection does not run in Software Mode" which, with zero research and not a lot of knowledge, I think means I need a different video card.
Same lore, although different game if you want to differentiate between 40k and fantasy. When I say Warhammer, I mean the GW franchise.
More like Borehammer Online. Why are you interested in this particular one, WiP?
RvR looks really interesting, if done right. Also, I've never really played an MMO and this one is the closest one to coming even remotely interesting to me, mostly because of the world.
Picked it up. This game solves every problem I had with MMO's before.
- FAR less grind (almost none needed if you choose to level up through Scenarios only, which you can and is sometimes advised!). - RvR/Guild based. Fosters a great, great sense of unity and community. - Very casual friendly. During PvP scenarios, if you're of a lower level, the game instantly boosts you up, so you can easily jump in with the higher level players. - Gear dependence is fairly minimal. No matter what gear you have/get, you can always kick ass on field. Plus, you can always get "Renown Gear" which you receive through RvR'ing - Far more skill-based. Collision detection in PvP allows for flanking maneuvers, defensive formations, etc.
This game is amazing, and far superior to WoW. All the endgame stuff in WoW that you have to get to level 70 to do is all readily available to you at level 1.

Call me when there is NO grind. Less or more doesn't matter. One piece of poop on the floor is just as bad as a pile of elephant poo on the floor. I am not going in there either way.
How far into the game are you, and how are you liking the engineer?
I'm level 11, and about half-way to renown rank 8. I'm liking the game, and I'm especially liking Engy, though it seems like there aren't that many of us around.
Engy is a bit gimped until about level 8 or 9, when we get the Bombardment turret and the awesome Rank 1 morale ability. After that, we steadily get more dangerous. I'm told that around level 25, we're incredibly aggravating in RvR, what with our excellent AOE abilities and multiple knockdowns.

If you're so inclined, this game is built so that you can level up (exponentially) and get your gear solely through PvP scenarios. In fact, you can theoretically level up to 40 without having to move at all (bar the 3 times that you have to fly to a different region to queue up a higher-tiered scenario). The game would be more akin to CounterStrike and Team Fortress that way.
Also, a well-placed turret can go a long way, Shark. Engineers can be quite amazing.

Oh, I know all about turret placement. At level 11, I'm regularly placing in the top 3 DPS for any given scenario. I'm going for a mostly grenadier spec; I want to do lots of ranged AOE damage. I figured it's a good way to contribute to the cause. :P
Can't wait till I get frag grenades and land mines. I predict havoc.
I'll probably give Warhammer a try when they eventually do like a free 7 or 14 day trial. I'm definitely interested in it, but I don't have the time for an MMO right now.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing...though interestingly enough I picked up the Steam 21-day trial of EVE Online the other day; we'll see how that works out.

NO! Eve is the most MMO of all MMO's!! You'll have to sink your entire soul into that game!

But I have thought extensively about trying it. Mythic also made Dark Age of Camelot, a game I enjoyed immensely.

Oh, and I`m totally down for some NS action.

Also, Shark. Are you in a guild, yet?
Sacred Band here. Yeah... don't ask. :P
